It' was good to chat to some of you guys at the audi-sport.net, the stand was absolutely brilliant, the cars were awesome, good to put a face to your names, I was at the far end on the Scottish Audi clan stand.
Will be there again next year :)

The drive home was fun, some dude in an Aston Martin tried it on, didn't realise how slow they were :) :) :)

I'm amazed how little, if any stonechips you have on your car? What's your secret?

if you drive at the speed of light the car doesn't get stone chips ;)

:lmfao:

I've had stonechips worse on this car than any of my previous 3, it's awful and just typical!! The RS3 will be getting PPF for sure, even if it's a 4 figure sum just for front end :(

I've got a couple and don't do many miles! One on the bonnet and one on the bumper.

You can get a ceramic coating or a clear vinyl wrap on the front end, that would really help

I've got one or two on the very leading edge of the bonnet, 4/5 on the bumper and one on the offside front arch :slapped: Front arch seems like a bad spot on these, had it on my A3 too.

Car looks fantastic sir!
I'm one of the Scots who didn't invade AITP........... would love to go one year though.
You don't happen to have pics of your rear red painted callipers do you? Doing mine in next few weeks and wondered how they turned out as they're an awkward shape.

The calipers are painted red from the factory, optional extra

The front are also done red from factory apart from the middle plate which I sprayed red to match

Ah right, that's why I'd assumed you'd done them yourself.
My dilemma with doing mine myself is whether to paint over the plate or preserve it with the 'S' badge as I'll be doing them in-situ.
Cheers for the pics :salute:

Don't do it :sadlike::tearsofjoy:

The finish of factory callipers are just too good to paint over by hand!

The metal centre plates pop of the calipers quite easily and you can get new s, s3 stickers then clear laquer them and they will last longer than the factory printed ones
I have a previous post on here with pics that shows before, during & after

Nice job AB. :salute:

JG
Thank you JG :grinning:

Got a wee bit of paint on the discs where it ran slightly but otherwise quite happy (and more importantly, Mrs AB is delighted).

The rears are a PITA due to the weird awkward shape and the S3 is very similar so I've got that to contend with when I do mine.

3 coats (sprayed) did the job.

The main thing is.............. Mrs AB is happy. :yahoo:

No doubt you'll have the S3 ones done soon.

Well worth the effort IMO.

What spray did you use?

Good stuff, easier than messing about with a brush I bet! Get in to all the nooks and crannies better.
Yeah, although means you have to make sure everything's masked off properly which is difficult.
The prep takes much longer than the spraying.
It's quick drying. Only about 15 mins between coats and I did three coats, but might do four on my car.
Heat resistant calliper transfers were from eBay.
I've got S3 ones for mine as I think I'm going to paint over the plate on the front ones.

Yeah, the prep is always the worst bit - makes the job better though! New decals won't be an issue if I do go ahead with it, I can make them myself :grinning:
