So,

This happened to my RS3 - when parked in my street at 3am this morning:

It was a drunk idiot - also took out 2 other cars. Police took him away, he has insurance, so I've called up my insurers and they've agreed it's a no fault claim and they'll get it all back from his.

So, now it's about repair (assuming they can and will - I'm guessing they wont want to write this off!). I've already been contacted by some guys called Veetec Motor Group, who are the insurers preferred company. But I am wary they won't do a decent job. Any advice to my rights or recommendation of a good accident repair/body shop in the north london area?

Thanks in advance guys.

Off to sob into my lunch!

Unfortunately that definitely looks like something they'd write off in my eyes, any engine damage? Might be worth buying it back and fixing it if the insurance do try write it off, also they generally want to suggest and go through their own repairer (which is a bit of a scam in my opinion) unless you can find somewhere that is a registered garage who will undercut them.

No engine damage from what I can see. Think it was a fairly glancing blow. Do you really think they'd write that off? I guess the front suspension/drive mechanism could be damaged from the impact.

Ohhh sorry to see this, hope things go the way you want to mate

I reckon you should buy it back and repair it yourself...

Who is your insurer and where about are you, don't give post code due to thiefs could be anywhere online

I'm in London and when mine happened and I tried buying it back they quote me a different price compare to what they were going to give me

My car was worth 6k at the time and they wanted to pay me 4k
When I tried buying my own car they said you can buy it for 4,400 wtf

I tried my best but didn't really workout, they were so rude and not bother to reply to my emails, had to call them myself and chaise their ****

My insurance at the time was Admiral, worst insurer ever...

Hope you are not in insured with them

Sorry to see this .
I hope the drunk gets a massive fine and banned for at least 10 years .
The fines and bans for this and dangerous driving and having no insurance / licence etc are imo not near bad enough .
Anyway have you had any word from the insurance ? and have you got a quality courtesy car ?
Have you stopped sobbing yet ? I nearly did when I saw your car ! !

Doubt they'll write off cause of the high value of an RS3 , would a 2.0 TDI etc .

Yes, agreed, doubt it will be written off...

Update - my insurer organised a "recommended repairer" on Friday, who contacted me and said they could only collect on Tuesday, which I went along with.

In the meantime, they organised me a hire car through Enterprise (who were amazing), and they gave me the best car they had - a Mercedes CLS 350d AMG styling! It's a lovely car but it's no RS3!!

It got to Monday and I couldn't help but wonder if I'd done the right thing with the repairer... my spidey sense was telling me it wasn't the best way to get a £45k car that I own outright looked after! So I did a bit of googling, and let's just say the reviews weren't great! They have 1.4 stars on google reviews and comments like: "Please - if you have the choice - never use this company." and "hey are blind. Sprayed the wrong side and did a poor job trying to fix it. Left the car in a right state and I think Stevie Wonder works there because there work is awful. DO NOT USE BEWARE!!!!".

So, I called up the insurer and said I wanted to use either Audi or an Audi approved repairer and they were fine about it. Just said "choose who you want and let us know, we'll sort it out".

So... I'm back to square one... Who should I use? Any recommendations? Audi themselves? Or a decent body shop/audi approved place in London somewhere?

In between all of this my 1 week old baby got sick, so this has taken the back burner, but I need to figure out who's best to trust with my baby!

Don't use their recommended insurer as they normally repair on the cheap imho.

TX.

Blimey please share how I can own a 45k car outright, I'm jealous.

I'd get it done at the main dealer if they'll let you do that.

That's terrible, my sympathies.

Good news is Nardo is a pretty easy colour to work with from what I gather. My Nardo RS3 was hit on day 3 and the repaint is quite good.

I'm not in Blighty so I can't recommend a specific shop, just do some research and find a reputable one. I don't think going to an Audi body shop will necessary get you a better repair. If you know someone else who has had major work done on another luxury car I would ask them, that's how I found my current shop. Then go down and have a chat with them, see if they are more concerned about time or the level of work.

Ok, I did a bit of research, and after a false start with a local firm in London who said they didn't want the job as they insurers would try to barter down their "premium labour costs", I was recommended Pentagon paint & body in Hertfordshire. They do subbed-out work for Whetstone Audi and seemed decent from the research I did.

They arranged pick-up of the car within 2 hours and I'm much more confident I'll get a decent job done.

Will show the results when I get them!

I cannot recommend Pentagon highly enough - it used to be one of the few body-shops in the country certified to work on all-aluminium Audis.

You should expect a satisfaction survey from Audi UK.

Pentagon paint & body in Hertfordshire are on the same road as Hatfield / M25 Audi (Spire Group). Have had dealings with them before, via M25 Audi, and was pretty happy :)

Just to add my 2p worth. I had a terrible experience with The accident repair centre next to Hatfield audi when my old A3 went in. It came out with damage it didn't go in with and there were numerous things I asked them to re do on the repair. I think this is the same one we are talking about here.

I also ended up with a windscreen covered in metallic paint overspray that I didn't see until a few days after I eventually collected as it wasn't sunny. They claimed no responsibility for it and I needed to pay out for a new screen in the end.

Couldn't you have accidentally had a brick land on the windscreen so it could be claimed through insurance?

It went through the insurance I just had to pay the excess but still should have been sorted by the repair garage.

I guess everywhere has their off-days and faults etc. I must admit I was not happy about using them as I have a place that I trust and send all my work to but used Pentagon as my car was already at M25 Audi. I guess the key thing here is to make sure you go over the car before accepting the works, and if you don't have the time to do it then arrange collection for a time when you do.

Totally. I have a very OCD eye but the additional damage was totally unacceptable.
