Hi,

I've recently bought a 2010 Audi Technik and I'd thought I would see if there are any recalls on the car and this emissions has come up.

A quick search doesn't show much just a couple of people asking if anyone can remove the remap.

What do they do? Is it just a remap? Does it degrade the performance or economy of the car?

Cheers
Stuart

It is the "Fix" for the VW / Audi emissions scandal that was all over the news last year. We had it done when the car was in for the last service without asking for it. Seems to have made no real difference that I can tell, but a lot of people with slightly older or higher mileage cars (ours is very low mileage for the age) have reported issues with EGR's failing, DPF's doing more regens, worse MPG, etc, etc.

As Gaz said, simply don't get it done and do not take the car to Audi for servicing or they may do it without you asking them to like they did with us!

Right, its got 130k on the clock, I think I will leave it then.
I don't think I will take it to an Audi dealer to be serviced but probably Audi specialist for the work etc.

Well, let's think about this from a rational perspective, you don't need any other "facts" or opinions...

This fix is meant to make your car comply with the norms and regulations that VW tried to cheat in the first place. Audi claims that the fix will not affect your fuel consumption, performance, reliability etc. ...

If that's the case, would VW had done it in the first place? Look at their reputational damage and the amount of money they had to pay. You're not willing to believe this is for nothing, right? So there is no ******* way this fix will not affect your car's performance in a negative way, otherwise they wouldn't have cheated! You have to be insane to believe this!

I say remove all emissions stuff and map, no smoke no poke

My Audi is genuinely like these d-turbo's haha, mostly use the smoke for cyclists and tailgaters though... because I'm nice like that.

no offence, but if that's your car, you're a douche :)

For everyone interested in whole this massive scandal watch DW independent investigation over Diesel Gate and hopefully everyone here will understand better, why they get away without any big problems. Enjoy

Someone I know happens to work in VW group dealer, all they do is recode the ECU and install vibration dampers on the injector lines for 2.0 tdi models. On 1.6's they do this and install a air flow stabiliser on the intake. Put it this way, the guy says a lot of cars return with EGR cooler faults, meaning 9 times out of 10 they get replaced, under warranty. Other than that, there's nothing noticeably different to not having it done. But that's just what he says :whistle2:
