Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

A question for Doc.
I presume from your posts that you love your Rs3 for the sound it makes and the way it goes, so why be so hung up on £7k's worth of options, will these really make your driving experience that much better over the standard car?

Fair point and I suppose it comes from not wanting to effectively be downgrading by going from a nearly fully loaded PFL to a poverty spec FL. Secondly, I always seem to move my cars on quite frequently, and trying to sell a poverty spec RS3 is going to be difficult.

It's a close call though and I still wouldn't rule me out swapping over.

Interesting Doc, when my car arrives it will be only my second Audi and my first RS. If the FL follows the same production pattern as previous RS 3 do you really think spec will have a significant effect on value come re-sale and if funding a car by PCP does that even matter as you can simply give it back.

Imho a bum basic car will be a fairly grim place to spend your time. £5-6k of options seems to be the "norm" although the FL seems to have lifted that sum tbf!

Jealous of you all :( Roll on 6th November.

I had a minute led in bed last night, I still can't actually believe that one day in the next few months I will be going to see MY RS3 :hubbahubba:

So excited :superman:

What are people's views about sportback vs saloon? I saw both at goodwood and was swung more to sportback, although I'd always preferred saloon until then. Think it's colour dependant...thoughts welcome

I wanted there to be an RS3 Saloon, I always favoured the Saloon to the Sportback.. until I owned a Sportback (I've had two already). Now there is an RS3 Saloon, as good as it looks I don't want one. Not arguing with anyone who has ordered one, but the RS3 is a 'hot hatch' and for me needs to be the Sportback I think. Plus I don't have to go stripping out in the garage to fit it in for the extra 6 inches longer (yes it's that right in my garage).

Mine has just moved into the paint shop, at this rate it will arrive when I am not even in the country which will drive me mad.

Ask them to put it away off site? It will be another 4 weeks or so from paint shop anyway.

I prefer the saloon. Several reasons.
1. Reminds. me of the old rs4.
2. I've always had hatchbacks and fancy a change.
3. I'm nearly 50 so a saloon looks a little less mid life crisis.
4. I think the saloon looks prettier
5. I like blue cars and the ara blue looks fantastic on the saloon, but odd on the sportback

I always wanted an RS4 - it was the first car (other than a Ferrari) that caught my attention with 414hp.

The RS3 does look alot like it - just like the S3 saloon too and I am sure that the RS3 probably would come out on a dyno at more than 400hp- may even be close to that old RS4.

Has anyone seen an RS3 dyno'd?

Not the new one I don't think, I saw one on a dyno on You Tube but it had been mapped I think. The TTRS has been on the dyno and I believe they are bang on the money with power, no conservative figures this time?

I'm the same as you, RS4 has always been my dream Audi but it just isn't sensible. I would pay the same for a 2 year old 25,000 mile RS4 as a brand new RS3 on finance. They are all coming out of warranty and are £2k a year to keep in it.

I've been lucky enough to drive one and the RS5, the RS4 is a tremendous car! The noise is out of this world, can't beat the singing V8.. IMO, the 4.2 sounds better than the 4.0 Twin Turbo in the newer cars. But it isn't a whole lot quicker than the S3, let alone RS3. The 0-60 is around the same as the S3, yes it has a lot of get up and go at the top end but otherwise they are quite comparable. It may have 450hp, but it's also a big old bus (doesn't handle like one I might add).

The new RS3 will be an absolute weapon and I think will be quicker than the RS5, figures so far has shown that. I drove the new S5, not knowing figures I thought it felt slower than the S3 and was too quiet.. the engine needs to be allowed to shout a little more. I checked the figures and were surprised that despite the higher price bracket and the extra 1 litre capacity, it is indeed slower than the S3. I'm looking forward to surprising some serious cars.

What lowering options are the most popular ? It does sit quite high.

Also all this talk about voiding warranty if you so much as put a sticker on the engine or car - is Audi really that bad?

PFL about 390-400 hp, many have been on the rollers like that.

My car has gone from order received, to in transit. So not long now! UK order.

As I think AudiNutta said, it looks like the factory is running ahead of schedule with the build dates. However yours must be doing good to be "in transit" already :racer:

Dunes7 - LOL. I did exactly the same thing a couple of days ago wanting to see if it moved on after midnight :yahoo:
This morning mine is shown as being in assembly I checked with my dealer yesterday and on their system it hadn't even started build. I contacted Audi customer services and they said the status on the online tracker was not correct, but it was in production.

Moving on from my 2016 RS3 to a the new FL. Ordered today. I probably wont see it until early 2018 but apparently the factory is working ahead of schedule...so fingers crossed. Managed to get all the options I missed out on last time due to allocation running out. **** Yeah!

So my finance is all confirmed. But as mentioned before we are looking at March. I just need to decide on the colour and if I wand to add the sports exhaust and mag ride. From a money perspective I don't. But from a feature complete side I do.

I contemplated taking Mag Ride off, the car will no doubt handle better for it but it's a good feature to have for an all purpose car.

Sports exhaust is a must really, over any interior features.

Nardo is fantastic, with Black Pack....

This guy in america bought an RS3 Saloon and sold it after a week.

Well most of that was a load of rubbish. It drives like an A3, because it is an A3.

A3 would have more torque? Ok................................................

I shut it off at 15:00, can't take any more of being made depressed.

You can't compare a £45k everyday car to how a Lamborghini takes off between traffic lights.

can'tput sound on where am at no why did he sell it

Because he wanted the throttle response of a Lamborghini in an everyday car and the Torque of an A3...... because A3's have more torque than the RS3 (so I have just learnt).

Order confirmed today.... very happy!

Sportback
Daytona Grey
Black Pack
Comfort Pack
Privacy Glass
Folding Mirrors
Sports Exhaust

Managed to secure a 3.1% discount :)

Dealer allowed me to drive their unregistered Sportback around the car park a few times to seal the deal!

Could of had a spec amend car late September/early October but for a number personal of reasons I've asked them to amended a car due to be ready for collection 1st week of December. Cannot wait :)

Bit of an upgrade from a 2.0 Diesel TT!

What build week is that? Mine is 6th November.

New member here and very excited my car has nearly arrived, its in the U.K. Assume at dealer any day!!

Sounds like he needed a pedal box. He already had an 2015 S3 and said it felt very similar to him. I sort of understand where he's coming from. I had a 2008 A3 1.4 TFSI Manual and there's this multi-story car park I go to quite often where the A3 felt like it had more torque in the first gear to the S3 facelift when going up the ramps.

My saloon has been built and in transit to UK - hopefully get mid September

I know I said I am okay with having to wait until March - but it’s going to get pretty lonely in this thread in the next month or so as everyone gets their cars!
