So the past few weeks I thought my car was running a bit sluggish every now and again.. when the other day I was coming home from work and it was intermittently sluggish.

Last night when coming home it was doing the same until suddenly it went into limp mode and the glow plug light started flashing on the dash about once a second.

I stopped off to see my bro and then when leaving the car seemed fine until I around the corner from my house it did the same. Limp mode and flashing light!

If it does this. I can turn my car off and back on again and it resets but sure enough it does it again.

Tonight I plugged my car into a code reader and got the error code P0403

Having checked online it would appear this is the EGR SOLENOID or the wiring to it.

I have done some digging around but not getting any clear answers. I took the pipe leading to my EGR VALVE to see if it was getting clogged up with carbon but no, its pretty clean and the flap moves freely.

For the sake of a few quid, and the fact that I'm not a fan of unnecessarily large garage bills, im thinking of going out tomorrow and buying the solenoid. Any thoughts or has anyone of you guys experienced the same on here??

The solenoid is relatively small and sits on the right of the engine with a small round cap that says MADE IN THE USA!!??

All help is much appreciated.

Hayden :)

can be from bad vacuum pipe to bad egr valve and bad control unit, just try to clean them all with brake cleaner and do pressure test for pipe, f not helping investigate future.

2010.. yeah it's had the update too mate :(

That will be your problem then, heard numerous people with EGR problems after the update. I had a letter through about mine again yesterday. Not a chance that I'll be getting mine done.

I know I have been thinking that myself.. just dont fancy taking it back to Audi for them to tell me its not their fault, come up with some sh1t excuse and charge me a massive bill!

Still having a frustrating day..

Took the EGR solenoid off and tested it against the battery, tried plowing into it with a pipe and it seems to be working good.

Took the pipe off leading to the EGR valve to under the car. Slight wet black residue but nothing that would cause a blockage. Flap in EGR seems to be working ok, I was able to put my fingers in and it moved open and shut ok.

Took the car out for a drive and so far no loss of power and no glow light on. Frustrated because I didnt really 'fix' anything so dont know what the issue is. Not much confidence in it at the moment.
