8V VCDS Mods

Probably a silly question - but can the front turn indicators be coded for the dynamic sweep operation on FL cars that already have that on the rear indicators?
Need Matrix Lights for dynamic front turn signals.

How can I increase the brightness on DRL on nighttime using OBD11 on my MY18 car? (I assume the VCDS settings are the same on there with long coding).

Hi,

I have the new A3 FL Sline WITH LED LIGHTS (not the xenon and not the matrix light)

I'm looking for activate the Coming/leaving home daytime running mods (front and rear lights) when unlocking the car and only DRL lights

For the moment, C/L HOME works only at night and i've the low beam and DRL light.

On my previous 8V pre FL (with xenons and not LED), i get the DRL C/L HOME in day when i unlock the car.

On the web i haven't seen this codes yet, but on youtube someone succeed but only only the rear lights > http://vinceheyy.com/2017/06/06/aud...es-feux-arriere-au-deverrouillage-en-journee/

Sorry to re-ask my earlier question, but does anyone know how to disable the noise cancellation on the B&O pre-facelift models? I've tried a few different things but can't stop the sub I added from reverberating.

Hi @Gregh20 I have the 8V with xenons pre FL, so is it possible to have C/L Home on daytime also? I though only was after dark then C/L Home kicks in..

ps. @DJAlix seems there is a way then? ;)

Happy to be corrected on this but as far as I know if you have a Rain, Light and Humidity sensor then you have automatic CH / LH Lights, which function based on the ambient lighting levels at the time... i.e CH / LH lights only "trigger" when its dark enough.

I have seen a youtube video where someone without a Rain Light and Humidity sensor reconfigured the CH / LH lights to a "manual" mode but LH Lights did not always trigger and CH lights only worked if you flashed your full beams first before getting out of the car.

When you activate a turn signal do your clusters flash both the turning signal strip and your brake light?
Yes, both flash. I'm starting to realize that there's not much that can be done to a FL a3, is there? The central electrics menu is basically not there, which seems to be where most of what I would like to do was located in the past. Boo.

How do I increase the brightness of the DRL at night?

Im amazed at how little support and guides there are for this on Audi when there are how to threads for the Golf that make it so simple.

But there is a mod about it >
As you can see, it's daytime.

On the FACELIFT, for the moment, only rear light works in daytime with a special mod >

Well I am not sure what he has done in order to get this working. If I get some time I will test again but its not high on my list.

Edit 1:

Looking at that PFL xenon headlights video, something looks off. The DRL's take longer than I would expect to light up under normal conditions. Based on the way in which the light sensor samples lux / ambient light levels, even if these were adjusted via the 09 module I would expect the DRL's to be on at the 2nd turn signal flash.

Edit 2:

and while I was hitting "save changes" on edit 1 I just realised how this might work lol So simple. @Raul_sbd I will be in touch in the next few days to arrange testing after speaking with Sean.

You will need new dynamic clusters then as both of these lights flashing is done via hard wiring and not coding, I know this as I had a set of USA clusters here which I ended up pulling apart.

The central electronics menu is there, but the long coding we all know and love has been superseded via a "new" programming method within the new MQB facelift and MLBevo platforms, TXT Coding. VCDS at this point in time can only handle Adaptations and Long Coding.

Would love to see what you find here @DJAlix. I assume the NA spec rear clusters are wired with the brake and turn signal LEDs sharing the same common lamp ground (brake on = all LEDs activated). This allows Audi AG to save cost by not needing the additional turn signal circuit which is found on EU variants. The last piece of the puzzle is the 09 module. I am not sure that even with the additional wiring and EU rear clusters that coding would allow the function to work on NA cars.

The new "TXT" coding findings would help solve that last inquiry.

You mean "what I found" as I had the USA clusters on a bench almost a year ago now :) You are correct, Brake and turn signal are wired together. EU spec FL clusters are 6 wire each and the USA ones I had were 4 on the outer and 6 on the inner. These USA clusters were also "static" and could not be converted or programmed to dynamic.

All the lighting configurations still take place within the Adaptation channels of 09 but the long coding has been split between firmware parameterisation, another things VCDS cannot do, and TXT coding as per the example below:

No problem @DJAlix happy to help ;)

Yep! I am from the US. I do have full LED tail lights, and they look exactly like the dynamic ones. I assumed it was just a "locked feature" or something in the software, but the hardware was already there. Sorry, I'm new to this!
I'm not sure if this will help, but I have a 2016 S3 here in the US and fitted the facelift rear euro tail lights to mine through a site called Europrice. They came with these here: https://europrice.us/turn-signal-modules-semi-dynamic-910
I'd shoot Alexander at Europrice an email and ask him how it works on the 2017 facelift. He's based in San Francisco. The Euro facelift tail lights I bought from him were OEM and plug and play to the harnesses on my 2016 S3, but those modules fit in between and I didn't need to code to make them dynamic, it just did it. All I needed to do after that was code so the indicators and brake lights operated how they do in European cars, but it seems from later posts this isn't as easy on the 2017. Anyway, give Alexander there a try - he's helped me out a lot on some mods I've done. Where are you based btw? I'm in Charlotte.

@DJAlix How did you get that retrofit VC on the pre facelift RS3 to show all the RS3 options like on a new model? (I am assuming it did; as it booted with A3 and was changed to RS3).

Am away at the moment and do not have the information to hand but am sure someone will be along in a min to post the steps. What I do remember is:

VC Start Up and Dial Logos
  • 1 = A3 (flat style dials with normal numbers and rev limit red outer-line)
  • 2 = S3 (flat style dials with italic numbers and rev limit red zone)
  • 3 = A3
  • 4 = A3
  • 5 = RS3 (grey 3D style dials with italic numbers and rev limit red zone)
  • 6 = Quattro (flat style with normal numbers and rev limit red outer-line)
  • 7 = A3
  • 8 = A3
Engine Data Display (will only display 0 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 %) = 17 > Long Coding > Look through the Bytes and tick Engine Data Display.

Apologies but I cannot give the information for enabling Single Dial S / RS sports display, RS gear change indicator and accurate Engine Data display as I would be giving away a professional advantage.

I assume you could easily change the S3 on the VC to RS3? I would be interested to do that to my car - I did message you before - happy to pay for the service as I’d like to make the VC more exciting!

Just checked my ASN inbox and cannot see a message from your user name. Better to take this out of the thread so could you fire a message over on PM or email hello@vagcarcoding.com

@DJAlix are you or anyone you know any closer to working out how to get the green yellow/orange banding with in M mode for the 'shift indicator' feature? This is huge for a few of us on here and like someone else mentioned, I'd rather have the use of that the torque and power meters working.

So from what i understand is that you managed to enable Single Sport Display on a standard VC?

Yes is the answer to both questions, and I am trying to work out how to supply these as a service as its not possible via the normal go to applications. Am really sorry but I really cannot give out any further information.

Great! When you know how to offer this as a service, please let it know

Would love this, but as I believe you're based near London it would probably be impossible for me or not financially worth it as I'm away up in Scotland.

A lot of interest on this @DJAlix.. We better crack on, everyone is waiting lol
As you know, for 2% of the cars out there I could do this today :) Am just waiting on time to test and a response from VW Group support in order to cover the rest.

@DJAlix Where is the coding to change the logo at least? (While we all wait on you)

You mentioned the options to change the logos but no idea where that coding is located!

As stated above, I am away at the moment and unfortunatly my wife used all the suitcase space for her shoes so I could not bring my External hard disks with me, I don't have the information to hand as I did some house keeping on my lappy. If it's any help to process is the same as PFL, but it's not only the logo that changes this time, the dial faces also change.

Is there a way to get the car maps and maps on android auto/CarPlay at the Same time?

Not navigating but so I can use google maps for example on my phone on the MMI screen but still see the google earth view on the VC?

(For anyone confused - the earth view is not google maps. It is google overlaid on the useless VW maps. Nevertheless that view is useful when you want to see what's in the area on a satellite view).

I'm talking about a VCDS mod that stops the car maps being deactivated when running maps off the phone.

(I've attached a photo- this is accidentally caused by the waze android auto beta crashing so the car thinks the maps are not running even though they are).

Good morning
Is it through vcds to make the steering wheel tougher?
My car is not facelift

So I went into adaptions 17 on obd 11 and turned on acceleration readout and I now have the g meter.

I tried to find the rs3 dials but all I could find was the boot screen which I changed to rs3 but then back again.

Attached some photos...

I hoped vehicle varient was the dials but there are 31 choices so didn't touch that. I see that there is also a rear camera option. Which is assume would put it on the VC.

Engine date switch turned on torque and power but they don't work as such. Tried the display varient adaption as that had 8 settings like the dials @DJAlix said but that literally did nothing at all.

The G force graph is cool though.

How do you get the graph for gforce ??

I only have the circul that moves around , hen when stationary the max figures are displayed in red

same here. i would like to have the graph in the gforce.

I just used the OBD Eleven app and OBD reader. I selected 17 instruments went into long coding and it said "acceleration readout" ticket yes. And it gave me gforce and the graph appeared after driving for a bit and stopping. I didn't change any other settings. No idea why I have that and you don't.

Likewise with the engine data it literally did nothing for me. Others reported they would get 0 or 100% but mine always stayed 0 so turned it off.

I don't. So I imagine OBD11 is interpreting the data different and may be doing something else. Or maybe it isn't. Maybe because I'm a MY18 it just works. Who knows?!
