Had my 2.0T special edition 2wd Avant for just over a year now and im beginning to get bored of it

Its a bit slow and its not the best handling car (why didn't they fit the 2wd with a limited slip diff!)

Thinking of getting a 2010/2011 S3 sportback black edition

On paper it should be more what i like, 260 bhp compared to the Avants 220bhp
4 wd and smaller so handling will be better/more nimble

Anyone on here done this and regretted it and come back to the A4 Avant??

Also thinking of going back to BMW's as a 330i is tempting (270bhp, rwd, 3 litre fun!

Will also be posting this in the S3 section

Thanks

my Quattro special ed avant is mapped to a safe and reliable 250 and goes like a bat out hell , handling is exceptional too ( and I drive a few nippy cars), not really fair to compare an A4 avant with an S3 to be honest , smaller car to start with so not an even playing field to start with....

Cant help on the s3 or bmw front, but have you done anything to your avant?
And why on earth did you buy a 2wd if you wanted something sporty that handles well?
Personally id be looking at getting your current car remapped, revo quote 260bhp anyway!
Youve got one hell of a boot with the avant, and personally i love my b7 so wouldnt want to swap it for a bmw, im not a fan. As for the s3, yeah nice car but a different chassis size, why not an s4?

Im in the same boat as Rob, running around 250bhp and quattro and im more than happy with mine after 3 years of ownership!

I'm a fan of big cars but some of those S3's are incredible from a performance point of view and the older 2.0T S3's are an absolute bargain for stats alone let alone the luxury and other special bits and bobs.

the Special Edition Avant came up cheap locally at a time when i needed a large estate car, i was originally looking to buy an S3 but things have changed now and Ive still got an S3 itch id like to scratch

S4 Avant is out of the question purely on fuel costs
