Hey, guys!

Hope you're all well. I wonder if anyone can help me out. I have a 2001 A3 1.8T. My gearbox mounting bolt (the one in the middle) has come out while I was driving. I need to get to work in about 8 hours (it's night now but I can look for a bolt in the morning). Does anyone know the size of this bolt? It's the one that goes right in the middle of the mounting, the big one that isn't fully threaded and has a sharp tip?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks :)

By centre I assume you mean the dogbone or pendulum mount from the subframe to the bottom of the gear box... there are two bolts that attach this to the box...

Parts 27 and 35 in the link above... the link lists part numbers and bolt size/length

That's correct, the dogbone. I can't see the sizes from my phone, will go to the link from the computer first thing in the morning and hopefully have better luck. Thanks, tuffty! I really appreciate your help :)

Sorry... my bad... its 27 for the shorter bolt (M10x30) and 28 for the longer bolt (M10x70)... longer bolt suggests it has a 32mm of thread if I am reading the spec right..

I figured it was 28 and did some Googling to get the correct size. Got it and then with the help of my cousin, found out that the thread had been stripped. Wanted to put a helicoil in but all the engineers we contacted could only do it by Monday. We managed to get someone to put "inserts" in with the correct thread and bolt size and everything is fixed up now. Phew, what a day!

Thanks for the help, tuffty. You pointed me in the right direction with those bolts. Really appreciate the help :)
