Hello!

How much torque can the stock clutch on a 120HP/290Nm Audi A4 B8 2011 model manual handle?

I've got mine tuned to 177HP/390Nm and was wondering if this was within spec for driving it hard, or if I should be careful not hammering it too much.

Thanks a lot in advance!
Erik

CR170's normally take 500nm but depends on clutch condition etc

Could you elaborate, please? A quick search brings up turbo upgrades with CR170 - so I can't see the clutch relevance. Perhaps I'm looking wrongly

CR170 is the 170hp model like the one you have is a CR120.
If you have same clutch as CR170's then you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

That's what I figured, but I don't know for sure if I got the same clutch as the CR170. I called my local Audi dealership and they told me the clutch in mine is the same as the CR143, but they weren't sure as the 170 he found was Quattro that affected the clutch choice. They confirmed mine is a downtuned version of the 170 one, with a slightly smaller turbo. It seems the only difference then is the turbo.

You shouldn't have any issues running just under 400Nm. As Bobby said your clutch is probably good for between 450-500Nm dependent on the mileage etc.

Sounds perfect! Mechanic who tuned it said stage 1 with 177HP / 390 Nm was all good but could slip (not necessarily) at stage 2 with 185 HP / 415 Nm if my clutch was worn. The car has just tipped 63,000 miles
