Not sure sure if this should be in the ICE forum or here under the A4 B7 one..so my apologies if in the wrong thread.

I am looking at getting a replacement head unit for my Symphony that still looks like it is as much OEM as possible but has the features I am looking for. These are namely BT for music and maybe calls, satnav - have an XLS Tom Tom but prefer an uncluttered front screen. Also at some stage soon when I can persuade my buddy to actually do the favour he owes me, to install the stereo and a reversing camera at the same time - certainly before I misjudge my reversing skills and damage the pristine rear of the estate. The price at £175 is also appealing.

The stereo I'm looking at is nothing flash but allegedly made to fit the A4 (I will measure up shortly) but does also have a LED colour select that looks close enough to the pleasant Audi one : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Car-Ste...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I realise that I won't get the info displayed in the dash display but I really won't mis that. My steering wheel only has station/track up down and volume so I believe there's a connector to the stereo to allow steering wheel controls to work..result!

Has any one got one installed? Anything to avoid when installing? Good and bad points so far? Or any similarly priced units?

Thanks

I looked at a fair few options , tried a couple and wasn't impressed, saw this pioneer item with good spec , good price and gave it a go.....turned out to be excellent.....more than happy with it and all the function work out of the box an the BT phone function is spot on......not as oem as some but doesn't look to bad.

I also have a Pioneer HU installed and it's worked very well for me so far. I used a connects2 harness to get it all working, let me know if you need links to parts etc.

Do you have a MFSW (getting into the anagrams now and it's only been a week) and if so can you do volume control, change station etc with the harness/es you used?

Thanks

Assuming msfw means multi function steering wheel, yes I do! I can use the controls on the wheel without issue, yes.

Hi, I also am looking at a replacement head unit. I've heard good things about the latest Xtrons octacore Android 6.0 unit. There seem to be two versions 1 2. Same hardware but different design. One strikingly similar to the OEM RNS-E unit but with CD slot, SD card and sim card slots on the front, the 2nd looks the same as the one you have linked, nicer of the two IMO but doesn't seem to have card slots. Both fill the whole area left when removing the original which is nice rather than having a frame around it. Saying that though Just Rob.'s install looks excellent.

Specs look pretty impressive, from the few you tube videos I've seen of it in action it looks incredibly quick compared to the dual and quad core versions. I'm sure as with any small quantity production electronics from the far east there will be quirks but I can probably live with that for the price, there's nothing like an afternoon or two of faffing to achieve very little.

Looks like steering wheel controls and dash display work too and even if you've the Bose system it should be (near enough) plug and play (all cables required included). I will likely buy the DAB+ kit and an external mic.

If anyone has one let me know your experience, I'll post mine if and when I take the plunge.

I have an Audi A6 C5 2004/5 Allroad with amplified Bose/SatNab/TV original audi stereo
I want to upgrade the stereo to a double din Android OR branded Pioneer/Kenwood etc type unit. not sure which yet

I basically just need satnav, phone bluetooth, DVD and iPod functions. Can anyone please advise me, now that we are in 2017 and the Androids have been around a while, what is considered the best upgrade for my car head unit?
If it's just a personal choice then I will probably go for Android so I have youtube on it and can install new maps easily if needed. But where I am REALLY stuck is in working out how to fit the damn things, what adapters and converters are needed etc. Any help gratefully received. Thanks

Chris does your steering wheel
Controls still work to answer/end calls. I have he same headunit I think, looks the same but internals be different and I can use the steering wheel to answer/end calls. I have to do in on the headunit itself.

Yes mate steering wheel remembers last call and also answers / ends calls too
