I bought some roof bars from eBay but there's no manual. They're the ones for the cars with roof rails already installed (8V4071151). I can't find the manual online sadly. Does anyone else have a copy they can scan? I believe it's only a few pages. Thanks

Hi the manual is pretty basic tbh. What are you having issues with?

If its install, follow this procedure:

* On the back of the bars they state which are front and back as they are different sizes and which way round to fit
* The bars sinply slot onto the factory roof rails ( in line with the small holes on the inside of the rail at the front and back.)
* You then lift the outer black flap insert the large allen key which should have been supplied with them and titghten to secure )

You do not need to adjust the bars like Thile for example as they are already the correct fitment to the car.

Thats about it

Well I've worked out how the torque key works thanks to a youtube video, but tbh, it's mainly the anti-theft bit I'm confused about. I expected there to be a flap with a regular key or something, but there isn't. Sure, I can see that the torque handle's got a unique pattern in the teeth, but I don't see how any of that stops someone from undoing the bars with some pliers or mole grips? I wondered if I had a missing part or whether the manual explained it a bit better. Thanks

You use the allen key to remove the tensioning bolts. If its installed correctly you should not be able to remove the bars using pliers or mole grips as there is too much torque to simply grip and twist with such tools. Only the correct allen key tool will remove the bars.

Thule bars have a thinner built in allen key and then use a lock to secure the bars to the car.

Okay, brilliant stuff, thanks. So when you say "remove the tensioning bolts", you don't mean they come out once the rails are in place on the car? They stay there once tightened appropriately and the strength of the torque is what keeps them anti-theft. Thanks!

Correct, just remove the large allen key tool once tightened and job done.
