hi guys my a3 has suffered the dreaded steering rack failure. its a 53 plate 1.6 petrol and im looking to replace the rack. i tried having it refurbed but it couldnt be done as it was too badly gone(processor failure) so i need another. can anyone tell me what part number will fit mine and yes i know it will need to be reprogrammed by audi buts thats not an issue.. number of my rack is 1k2423051AC and the number on the motor is 1k1909143l ....gen 1 i believe

Don't buy 1gen as replacement, ever!!
This, and even 2gen is not sold by VW/AUDI any more!!
Get 3gen from any VAG car, actually it really doesn't matter what part number it will have. Search for 8P3 racks, Golf mk6 etc. Part number should be like 1K2423051** I believe (not too keen on RHD cars sorry).
Also don't forget to upgrade the wire loom and adapt it to the car with VCDS etc.
If you're on a budget good 2gen with warranty will also be a good choice.
