Facelift Creaking new car!

My car is with the dealer - I was told they have been working on it today. I don't know if they fixed the issue and I don't know if it will be ready for me to collect tomorrow. I hope so as I miss having my new car! And although they gave me an A3 s-line sportback it is definately not the same - not as fast; not as well specced and not as sexy to look at!

Did you read my post? Pretty much covers this
Only saw your post Chris4410, after I posted, did yours creak all the time or only on hot sunny days as mine seems to do, I have the car booked into the dealer on Monday 24th July so hopefully get it sorted, thanks for your post as it put mine mind at ease, I thought perhaps I was imagining it

Got the car back - they replaced the near side front mount and bearing and no noise now.

Also there is an issue with the roof frame for the sunroof causing rattling so have to take it back in soon to fix that.

I feel your pain... going through issues myself atm

Mine did it all the time, however it did range dramatically in noise level. It was always there just on a varying scale of annonance

just an update for you guys- the car has been in and they have fixed the creaking. I'm waiting on a full list of the work that has been completed so I can let others know who have also had the same problem.

I've only driven it about 30 miles so far but can't hear the creaking anything like before (if at all).

Just had an update on mine from Belfast Audi as regards the creaking on mine, they said it was a wire rubbing against the bulb in the high level brake light, they still have the car , so I cannot confirm if the creaking is still there

Interesting, that's massively different to Chris who had it stripped and sound deadened !

Yeah, I was hoping they would have come back to say they had done the same as Chris had got done, but if that cures the problem, I'll live with it. It was a 38 sec Audi cam reply they sent me, so hopefully I will know more when I talk to the service manager

So I can't believe I'm saying this but the creaking had returned!! Less then 30 miles of driving it and it's as bad as before.

What shall I do? I can reject the car and/or give Audi hell. It's not something you can live with as those who have the same problem can vouch for.

I bought my saloon Dec 2016, it was a year old, the first time I noticed the creaking was may this year, it only seems to happen on hot sunny days on not so smooth roads, explained this to the Audi mechanic today and he mentioned rear window expanding, when my wife sat in the back she seemed to think it was coming from the rear window at the high level brake light, as I stated previously Audi said it was a wire rubbing against the brake bulb as I said I haven't got the car back yet, but reading your story I am not to hopeful that the creaking has gone, I will let you know when I have got the car back and driven it a few days

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. Mine is booked in (again) for next week so I can show them exactly what the issue is. I spent half an hour last night clambering round the back seats trying to look myself but didn't get anywhere!

I have a creak on my f/l s3 saloon. Seems to have started since warmer weather although I guess that might be a coincidence. Trial and error seems to show it as being the rear seatback- if I fold it down the noise stops. Anyone else had that, I can't find anything loose and not sure if a simple bit of grease in the right spot might resolve without visiting dealer?

I have a similar rattle/creak in my Sportback coming from the rear seat. I located it to be the rear seat latch rattling on the metal fixing ring. Abit of tape around the ring has stopped the noise. Have mentioned it to the dealer to look at but not sure what they could do that's i haven't.

Here's a picture of what I mean part from someone has used electrical tape. I used the tape that they use for wiring looms. It does catch when putting the seat down but I just makesure I renew the tape eveytime I put seat down which isn't often

Lifted the car today from the dealer, they stripped the rear parcel shelf, found the wiring for the brake light loom was creating the noise, they repositioned the loom and applied anti friction tape (whatever that is) to prevent further noise, drove the car to my home, 70 miles away 20 motorway, the rest a mixture of surfaces, so far so good, but I will reserve judgement for a few days yet

Lol Anti Friction tape = some old sellotape they had lying around most likely.

Just got to this thread but I had a similar issue with my FL S3 Saloon. The rattle was driving me insane. I could even hear it over my music. It took two trips to Audi but the issue was rectified in April. The noise was the high level break light and the wiring leading to it. I was able to tell them before it went in that this was the problem thanks to the detective work of my nine year old son but it still took them two attempts to rectify.

Thanks for sharing BMB.

Given the issues I've had with my car since I bought it 5 weeks ago (in that it's been back at Audi with issues for half that time) I escalated my complaint to Audi UK's executive office. I've had daily calls from both Audi UK exec care team and the dealer principal at my dealership, who have taken the car back in today to fix this creaking noise (it being the last issue to solve...I hope).

I took the master tech out in the car so he could hear it and we didn't even reach the end of the car park before he said he'd heard enough. I can't have gone more than 10mph!

I'm expecting a call later today with an update. in the meantime, I have a new a5 s line as a courtesy car.

let's see what the diagnosis is...

Hope it gets sorted, the same noise is slowly but surely returning in mine after being fixed. My dealer had the car for over a week to fix it and to be fair it was fixed but approximately 4 months later its beginning to produce the same creaks.

I have it booked in for its first inspection service in a couple of weeks (which is a joke but another matter) and mentioned it and again they want me to demonstrate the issue and then leave the car with them for 2-3 days for them to diagnose and fix it.

I got the Audicam video through earlier today- sure enough they've isolated it to be the third brake light. A new one is on order and will be fitted tomorrow before they re-test it. Not sure of exactly what the issue with the brake light is, but I'm pleased they've diagnosed it especially when others seem to have had the same issue.

did they look at this on yours Chris, or just go ahead with the sound deadening?

It's seems to be that the creaking in the saloons going by my experience, and the experience of others revolves around the high level brake light and cable, phutch33, does your audicam show the problem, or was it like my audicam, just a walk around the outside of the car

It showed me they had taken the brake light and isolated the problem but they didn't go into detail about the wires etc. Let's see what they say after the fitting/re-test tomorrow!

Yeah, their fix also included work on the rear high level brake light.

My S3 has creaked for 30 months especially over speed bumps and when driving slowly.... Always from the rear lol... Turn the bang&olufsen up lol

Did you ever get this looked into? I’ve got the same thing when I only ever go over speed bumps. Never hear it when driving however.
