Hi everyone, so I'm new to audi-sport and also a proud new owner of a audi 1.8t 1997 a3, I will be upgrading bits and bobs as I go along and will try to keep you guys updated as I go, also I will more than likely need to ask for opinions and help on certain things so I hope this is the right place! I will be posting up some photos a bit later after a good clean up and Polish to tidy her up a bit

Here I a few photos of how it is at the moment, anyone have any recommendations on what I should do t the general look, I'm after a new bumper for the front as mine only has the old shape with no fog lights in the grill, I personally think it look ugly, but I'm finding it very hard to find an s3 front bumper , anyway here she is...

Hi and welcome to the site. You will get good information from some good people on here. 1st thing i would do would be to blacken the back windows and put in a decent set of car mats. Personally i think when you open the door its 1 of the 1st things people see. Good luck with whatever ur plans are.

Little update, gave her a good clean this morning inside and out, painted the front grill gloss black and deranged the back, slowly getting there

It does mate, cleans it right up, anyway so I went on holiday over the weekend but just before I left I thought I would service the car, I fitted a new fuel filter, oil filter, pollen filter, brake pads all round, and a cone filter that I got on the bay for about 25 quid, and also a full oil change, the car runs a lot better and sounds quite nice with the new

induction kit fitted, so I'm pleased with the results.

So when I got home today from work I thought I would start on colour coding th little bits on my car, started by doing the front bumper as I hate the black, just just a clear coat now but I will let the paint harden and do that tomorrow, have to say I'm very pleased with the results, especially as I'm doing this on a bit of a budget, I will be tidying it up panel by panel as I go along, all the work I'm also doing myself with a bit of help from a friend time to time, anyway here's a couple photos, let me know what you guys think!.

Cheers mate, I personally think it freshens it up a lot as well, I will be painting the rest later on today, along the sides o th doors and the rear bumper if this rain dies down where I am, so ill keep it up to date and let me know what to think.

Like I said I would keep everyone updated and after waiting a full day for it to stop raining I've managed to get the rest of the black trim painted this evening, I think it looks a lot better, just need to wait for it to harden then to give the whole car a good clean and a full Polish, I'll also wet and dry the parts I have sprayed and Polish them up to irradicate any orange peel and imperfections, but for a 25 quid job I'm very pleased with th way it has turned out, let me know what you lot think aswell.

Looks a different car mate, the angle of the first picture for me gives it a bit of the look of the next gen A3.

Facelift headlights and taillights next?

So after a hard days work and a bollocking from the wife for always been out in the garage, I thought what better to do than to give the car a good lean and a full Polish, also wet and dry sanded and polished the parts I'd sprayed, have to say she is coming along just as I wanted her too, and the car is now beginning to look a lot better, tcg I am going for the face lift headlights and tail lights but first I have a fmic that I hopefully will get fitted this weekend coming, I'll keep this updated as much as possible, thanks for the good feedback it's much appreciated. Anyway here's a few pics of what it's looking like now...

So I haven't done anything on the car today, but I did pop out to the garage and fish out an intercooler, a load of pipework and silicone hoses and hundreds of clamps, hoping I can get the intercooler fitted with the parts tha iv managed to gather together but we will see...

Some of those pipes aren't bead rolled... they will pop off if they aren't bead rolled

<tuffty/>

Ah I see, looks like I may have to buy new pipework then
or get them bead rolled... you can even make your own tool very cheaply
http://www.d-series.org/forums/diy-forum/163148-diy-$5-charge-pipe-bead-roller.html

Just make sure the pipe is still round and the bead you add is consistent... don't use those massive t-bolt clips either as they are rubbish... use a quality clip like the JCS hi-grip... they have great feel as you tighten so you know when to stop tightening... if you get the click of death on any clip you will need to bin it... t-bolts have no feel so generally either too loose and you get a leak or too tight and it crushes the pipe... the piece under the bolt needs to be aligned correctly else it doesn't clamp evenly and will leak.

Ahh OK mate thanks for that, I'll do that instead, and I have got quite a few normal clips aswell, so ill bin the t bolts off and use them as well as buying some new ones with good grip, info is much appreciated

Sorry for not being on here for a while, to be honest I haven't been doing anything on the car the last week or so, but today I did manage too pick up a set of 17" to wheels with good tyres for a bargain at 80 quid, so I bought them and I also thought while I'm changing the wheels over I'll paint the callipers, I thought yellow would be nice as usually red is common an I do like to be different, let me know what you think, also anyone think I should go gloss black with these alloys aswell? Or any colour preferences?

Agree with you on the brake collection I think the yellow brakes look good Ina silver car. I'd leave the alloys standard just get the centre caps for them

So, sorry I haven't been on here for a bit guys, just haven't done a lot recently, but I hav decided I'd spray the bottom grill black just to give the car a bit of contrast, I reckon it's better like this

Hi Ethan - are you still working on this project? P928 FEP was my first car almost 20 years ago and I would love to know how it is getting on.
