Hi Guys,

Apologies if this has been answered already, however, I've looked through loads of threads and couldn't find an answer.

I test drove my car back in March (PFL S3 8V) and since I've taken delivery of it, the Traffic Sign Recognition software isn't working.

On the gauges display, I get this error whenever I select the TSR in the system. I originally thought it was because I was on my drive, but since then I've used it on all kinds of roads and still no luck.

I have an OBD11 if there is a solution? Hope someone can help, driving me nuts!

Cheers,

Jacob

Afaik it works by using the lane assist camera in the windscreen, does the lane assist work ok?

Yeah the lane assist is working fine, that's what's so strange

I've not used obd11 so I've no idea if you can use it to investigate anything further than just a fault code scan.
Vcds is the best option tbh for fault finding but if the cars still in warranty can you not let the dealers sort it?
In the 5 month's I've had my car the traffic recognition has worked faultlessly

Very true, and yeah it's still in warranty, I'm going to take it down to them, but I live a fair distance from my 'local' dealer and if someone on here can point me in the right direction, it saves me trekking it down!

I think it's quite a rare option tbh as you need lane assist, so in that respect I think you'll struggle with advice.
If I can help by checking mine on vcds I will, but I've no idea how the wizardry works lol

Ahh, I didn't know it was quite a rare option, no wonder!

I think the extent of my knowledge is how to turn it on and what fuel it takes ;)

Let me know if you do stumble across anything!

No worries i'll have a dig around with vcds next time I plug in. I certainly wont be tinkering with it though!

I've got traffic sign recognition and it seems to work automatically. Never really paid attention to what it first displays when it's "off-road" but I'll check tomorrow. I'd presume it would display the last recorded speed limit from the previous journey.

Are you sure it was working previously?

It's a £250 cost option, and some people think it can be enabled using VCDS, so they try it themselves :racer:

I have TSR and lane assist but I have never seen that before. I'd go to the dealers rather than using OBD or VCDS.

Mine pops up with that every now and again, in fact it did it today when I was on a brand new stretch of road which isn't on sat nav mapping. That said I also sometimes get the message when I go on a slip road onto a local bypass, in that instance it always happens in the same place. The rest of the time it works spot on. It shouldn't make a difference about nav as I think it optically recognises signs. I'm not sure why it should not work unless it is the angle it sees signs at and cannot register them. You can turn it on or off in the car menu.

Rather like S3GCN I have had this message pop up a few times in the past on my PFL but now I come to think on it it hasn't happened for at least 6 to 9 months. I never bothered about it because the next time I went out in the car it was fine. If it doesn't pick up any traffic signs then it just reverts to using the data from the satnav. One odd thing is that sometimes it will not recognise motorway overhead gantry speed limits and then on other motorways it works perfectly. I think it depends on the type of matrix signs used. It is perfect on the M25 and M1.

Same here, I get that message occasionally but then it works fine on the next journey. It is also not infallible as it sometimes shows what I know are incorrect limits.

Yeah, the option was fitted from factory, which is why it is so annoying! I'll most likely go down to the Audi dealer and see what they can do. I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the comments, I'm not the only one who's experienced this then!

If it happens occasionally it’s because it can’t see a road sign or doesn’t have a record of the correct speed (because it also uses the mapping data to display speed limits).

If it isn’t working at all then that suggests either an issue with the camera or the software and take it to the dealer would be the best solution.

Thanks for the reply, the system isn't working at all and never has since I've taken delivery of the car. I will be booking it in with a main dealer to try and solve this! Cheers
