@Sandra Apparently there is a way around this but not sure how long it will last for. If you edit the photo link and add ~original after the .jpg then the image is displayed. I spotted this on the TT forum. For those people using Chrome you can make some changes so that your browser automatically appends the ~original to the end of any photobucket .jpg files.

http://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1591578&p=8266737#p8266737

For those that use Google chrome browser and use several forums, all of which will be plagued by this but few will have this fix in place, I have a extra little helper.

This works by adding ~original to the end of each photobucket url.
God knows how long until PB cotton on and stop it working but a good temporary fix atm.

Download this Google chrome extension

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... nfo-dialog

Install and make sure it is enabled.

In it's options in the JavaScript box enter:

$(document).ready(function () {
$('img').each(function () {
var img = $(this);
var imgsrc = img.attr('src');
if (imgsrc.indexOf("photobucket.com") !== -1) {
img.attr("src", imgsrc + "~original");
}
});
});

And hay presto at least for now any site you visit with broken photobucket pics will be restored biggrin.png

I whizzed through the pages on my build thread for the car and restored all the photos on about 12 pages in 30 minutes. But then I am able to edit all my posts which normal users cannot do. But anybody using the above browser trick would not be able to see my images now .
Wonder if the site could append all the photobucket.jpg links automatically.
This doesn't work for videos unfortunately. And long term I will continue to upload the original to the site.

Thanks Karl. :) x

I think Photobucket have shot themselves in both feet with their attitude. The warning email I received stated that I had been abusing third party image sharing against PB Ts and Cs (no mention that they had only recently changed). It demanded I put things right by upgrading to a premium account. Very far from the truth as I had only linked a few images to a few forums, all before the Ts and Cs were changed.

Despite the change in Ts and Cs the site still offers the facility to share links to forums as before. You'd think they would have disabled that for free account holders. I wasn't going to upgrade and the alternative (removing all the image links I had ever shared) was virtually impossible. In fact I found only one image blocked, replaced by their image requesting that I upgrade. The few others I've checked showed up as before. All the warning emails achieved was drive me further away from PB as a host than I had been before.

The legacy of this is that forums I visit are now littered with that ugly PB account upgrade demand image. Few people seem to be reacting to it in any way. It's just negative publicity for PB. Also some forums are switching to directly uploading user images, cutting out the need for services like PB.

facebook is the way forward, no upload limit, no bandwidth restriction, can download all your content if you need to... and if you want albums just for hosting, make them private (for example if i've done detailing tutorials i don't want to bore my friends/family with)

I don't trust Facebook privacy settings, which change like the weather, and I don't want to give them anything they might find useful in their quest to know everything about everyone.

i'm sure if they wanted to know everything about you... they could lol

That’s they way with everything online these days... and it will only get more and more intrusive
