Ok guys so some days ago my 2014 8v 1.8tfsi overheated and I carried it in , they changed the water pump unit (thermostat /pump/ coolant sensor ) or so they said .
Anyways all was fine for a week after that. Today I decided to change the oil and I found this (pics attached ) on the floor of the stone shield when I removed it.

So I'm thinking it's part of the water pump assembly most likely . The thing is no coolant has been lost , nothing is leaking, no overheating . I don't know if this part got replaced and it's the old one I found .....

Does any one know exactly where it connects to ? Or what is the function of it ?

Thanks for your help.
I will carry it in and ask them , but those guys Clearly aren't too bright . So I'm not looking forward to visiting them.

Thanks for your help.
Karl

No result there , but I did a search and found a hose for a golf gti that looks very similar , the hose for the golf is called an air cleaner drain tube , I think it mounts below the air box , will have a look below mine in the morning to confirm .

Yup, my dealer broke mine too, as well as knocked off the pipe for the secondary air injector pipe causing a CEL when cold.

That pipet clips on to the underside of the airbox, which itself is super easy to remove but it's very possible that the clip is broken. Not sure how important it is but I figure it's there for a reason.

So one end fits in the air box and does the other end plug into anything ? Or it just hangs ?

It just hangs off the airbox, just a vent it seems.

Strange as I just felt below my air box and I don't seem to have any holes for it to connect to . Is that where it fits in your a3 ? You have the 8v model right ?

Just one bolt to loosen the clamp for the airbox to the hard plastic tube near the firewall and a little black hose slides off the airbox, then just lift it straight up. It might seem like a lot of force at first but it pops off with 3 or 4 push-on fittings. Installation is the reverse.

Right, it's near the center of the underside, you'll see it when you pop it off. A3 8V 2.0 Quattro (US-spec 220 bhp) but I think it's used across much of the engine range.

So if I open the box and remove the air filter , I am supposed to see the hole right ?

I never actually opened the airbox, I just removed it because it clips to the underside of the bottom portion of the airbox.
