Yup, never had it so bad in an Audi since.............. well, forever :grumpy:
As mentioned in the "Rattle" thread, mine do decrease when Mrs Bairn ain't in the car, but some are actually the car itself.

Yeah mate a lot of moans and groans threads on here Vorsprung durk technik ain't doing its job at the moment.... Just yer luck really and some folks expectations maybe set too high.... That's not to say a lot folks have valid problems but some won't

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a better built product for the premium they charge. If I wasn't fussed about the build quality, I'd have bought a Focus RS...

Valid point Mark_86 they are very expensive but you're spending more money than normal to buy into a perceived prestigious brand?

No, I couldn't give two figs about the brand tbh. I would be happy if it was a Renault, Audi or a Bentley... I bought into Audi because it was supposed to be better built, higher grade materials and high levels of technology.

Well I'm on my 10th A3, the first one being purchased in April 1998 and my latest one in March 2017 and personally I recon that if anything my current A3 is better than the early ones. No rattles, creaks or excess noise apart the tyres on some UK road surfaces. No such problems when driving in France, Belgium or Germany. To me the Audi certainly has a better interior than a lot of other makes of similar size. Even better when it gets the latest touch screen MMI system!

You missed my point the Audi brand has all the same crap/faults as most other brands but only it's wrapped up in a posher showroom and with a high tech posh image..... You go and buy that focus RS.... Could be perfect but highly doubtful, Audi S3 has a higher percentage of being perfect but again doubtful..... Pays yer money.... Etc....etc

I had a MK3 Focus - 63k miles later I sold it. In that time it never broke down, never had a warranty claim, nothing ever fell off and it certainly didn't rattle or squeak any where. Just saying....

I have been on this forum since the pre-launch days of the 8V and there are always occasional threads on squeaks and rattles but made a point of highlighting the number of current threads as its atypical so indicates that for the vast majority its not an issue even with older models now 5 years old

Personally I have not had any problems with squeaks and rattles from 4 8V's (oldest one only just got to 16 months old though) but did have to take an 8P in for warranty work after a couple of years for a squeaky suspension bush which was a common fault in the later 8p models

I've had my TT for one year and a bit now... two times they had to put a new seat frame in cos it kept squeaking every time I was turning a corner. I'm only 11 stone also so it wasn't a weight issue lol.

Also the fold down rear seat clip broke which meant I couldn't fold seat down to put golf clubs in.

Along with the jerkiness of the 1st gear which Audi put down to just being a characteristic of a new car... horrendous to drive in stop start traffic as it looked as if I had bad clutch control.

Really hoping I won't have as many issues in my S3!

Aside from my rattles that I have addressed, I am getting a LOT of road noise in the car. I'm hoping it is just the tyres as these will be getting replaced in the next month or so, but it is much noisier than any of my A4s were.

My Audi S3 is 3 yrs old tomorrow and has done 24k fast miles.
Apart from wearing out a set of tyres absolutely nothing has gone wrong and is due its 3rd service :) No intentions of changing it in the short term.

Same here 30 months old 24500 miles and 4 new tyres with the occasional squeaks from the rear in warm weather that's it....

Really, not my experience, nearly seized the engine when all the coolent was suddenly dumped out of a faulty thermostat housing, waited weeks for a replacement. The roof liner had to be replaced because it started to wrinkle, then some foam popped out from between the dash and the windscreen. Don't get me started on the rattles either or the low rent interior.
Suffice to say my a3, and my current a4, are all rattle free. Just go to the talkford forum and you'll find out that most mass produced cars will, at some point, have several that slip through the qc. Just saying lol...

Having had a B7 A4 for 8 years I can safely say the A3 was not even close in terms of build quality, and don't get me started on the noise inside the cabin.

Yes, I had the 19's but I found myself shouting at my wife when on the motorway, not what you expect and a lot noisier than the old gen A4. I got shot of the A3 after 6 months and moved into a B8.5 A5. 100% better built and soooo much quieter (also on 19's)

Audi have cut cost out where you can't see, but you can certainly hear.

Also had the rattle from the rear brake light too.

Well, you are forgetting my WHINE at 140km/h that required the replacement of the front differential in order to be solved :D

Also after the replacement of the front differential the whine did not went away totally. There is still a very slight whining noise at some speeds... I think it is something of the S-Tronic it does not bother me anymore. I am over-reactive to noises.

My car also HAD the usual rattling noise of 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI. Strange thing it self healed some thousand km ago.
