Carista App

Afternoon folks

I've got the beta version of Carista and was able to turn drive select on in my 2013 2.0 tdi 177. A little extra work needed in the green menus, which can be found in the guides to turn it in via VCDS, but it does make a noticeable difference.

There's also options to play around with the settings for stop/start which I don't think I've seen anyone else mention. Well worth a look if you have the beta version.

@Briggsy3000 - Hi & :welcome!: to Audi-Sport.Net !

I'm not running the beta version of the Carista at the mo but have been able to set the memory function on the stop/start button a little while http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/carista-app.237050/page-15#post-2980866

I hate stop/start with a passion so really works well for me

I have just ordered one of these, should hopefully arrive next week. Is there a way to back up configurations/customisations before I start enabling/disabling?

I've had a look around but I can't see anything that suggests there is any backup functionality?

Well, you could always save/print off a copy of the current status of all the options that Carista can change in your car - well Carista's interpretation of what the car's option settings currently are, and mark that up where, in the future it might look a bit ambiguous - so that you exactly what that saved doc or printed doc really meant, and use that as reference.

Anyone know if you can buy this on the highstreet? Halfords maybe? Or are they only available online?

Online only as far as I can see. Their website only lists online retailers.

The official Carista adapter is out-of-stock on Amazon. Well, it was last night. As per Carista website the only other place to get it from is ECS, which can be a bit taxing money wise (import duty etc). Having said that, I'd call AwesomeGTI and ask them if they could get one and the price off course.

Well I have carista on Facebook and noticed last week that they said they can now enable ADS in the app so I gave it a go and low and behold I now have the drive select come up in the car menu and can adjust the steering and engine response ( don't have damper control but put the option on as it looks cool haha) you can definitely notice a difference in the car with the engine and steering set to dynamic so seems a good little mod!

This work on MMI 1 on B8?

It would be someone with more knowledge than me that would have to answer that to be honest. If you message carista on Facebook or email they'll reply quickly in my experience. I just know that it worked on my 2010 S4

Got a trader to run a diagnostic check using there large tablet like piece of kit yesterday. Spat out two error codes, one which sounded like nothing and to do with Telephone Aeriel, but another came up under Engine section.

20679 I think it was but that isn't in the Error Codes listed in the Sticky post on here. Anyone know anything about this one. It was also being reported as Sporadic.

Yeah had checked in there. No luck. I might just bite the bullet and get a Carista dongle as it will be useful for my car search and afterwards.

Are you sure it was 20679 as I can find anything but then I am no expert. Can you not ask the guy to send you the scan report?

I've read through the hole thread and it seems that some of the cheap Obd doogles connect and work with the carista app and some just refuse to work...

Has anybody had good success with a cheaper I.E £15/£20 EML327 doogle?

By the time you eventually find one that works you may have well got an official one. I went through 3 before i just ordered the proper Carista one.

Can you turn off the alarm sound door open with the engine running? Can't find it on Carista.
Also seen you could see how many times Launch control has been used but can't seem to find it myself ?

@jdp192; do you use your Carista adapter to connect to dynolicious app?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Really? So if I have a similar app installed on my phone, I don't need a wifi adapter to connect to OBD port to get the readings.
Stupid of me. I installed OBD fusion and never used it thinking I needed an adapter

@Tashfeen, I can't speak for other apps, only Dynolicious. It doesn't connect to the car in any way. The acceleration and speed times are all taken from the phone's accelerometers and GPS. The HP figure is a guess based on input data about the car's weight (with passenger) and frictional losses. Like I said, it's a bit of fun only.

Cheers mate. The adapter will be delivered tomorrow so will find out.

I've just had a rather confusing session using Carista and my ELM327 wi-fi dongle. Initially I spent about ten minutes (ignition on, engine off) wondering why it wouldn't connect before it dawned on me that I hadn't switched my OBD port lock off. D'oh!

Once I'd put that right, I loaded up customisations to find that door buzzer off hasn't been added. But I did notice that a whole suite of ADS options have been. My car has ADS and sports diff from the factory, but I didn't spec adaptive damping. Yet Carista allowed me to display Suspension in the MMI's ADS settings. Stranger still, when I entered the menu later, it allowed me to toggle between settings. How? I expected Suspension to be displayed but greyed out and non-selectable.

While I was still in Carista, the adaptive headlight malfunction warning light came on. I did a scan, but instead of coming up with one error, it listed about ten, which I stupidly reset before saving and emailing them to myself. By now, the ignition had been on for about 20 minutes, and the sun was very hot so I shut everything down.

I'll have another go tomorrow morning in the cool of the underground car park at work. This time, I'll save the errors and report back.

But what's going on with ADS giving me access to adaptive damping that isn't fitted?

Not an expert on this but I had ADS activated as mine didn't come with one. Whilst I was activating it (via VCDS) it did give me the option to activate Adaptive Dampening. You can activate it but since you don't have adaptive dampening it won't work the way it should, i.e you won't notice any difference.
