Sooooo, last Friday whilst coming home I had the dreaded flashing coil light on the dash.
Turned off and back on and it's gone for awhile only to appear back, upon getting home I ran a quick scan and found faults relating to the flap valve, now it has been a bit lumpy of late and occasionally carries on for a beat after switching off.
So I decided to strip off the flap valve/egr and manifold and give them a good clean, I'll stick some photos up when I get time but suffice to say it was all pretty horrible!
After cleaning it all and putting it back together it ran better than it ever has... Until today when had the flashing coil light again and a host of errors this time..
As seen below, I'm pretty sure that the flap valve is dead or dying as it had part of the rubber seal hanging out and I had to split it and then reseal it . Whilst doing this i did notice that one of the plastic tags was broken and the drive to the gear system inside was in that there was no flat/tang or engagement as such.
Anyway, I gather that the flappy thing can cause errors within the airflow system so I reckon that's the place to start.
Where's the best place to get one,and what the damage gonna be does anyone know?

So after a bit of research, it seems I can pay anywhere between £90-£350.
I'm planning on buying a VDO/Siemens replacement as I've had issues in the past with cheaper 'alternative' electrical parts.

Mine went on me the other day I thought cleaning out would be sufficient enough but on closer inspection the gears inside the actual valve mechanism/motor has shredded some time which means the valve doesnt operate as efficiently as it should, so I am now trying to source a replacement dont want a second hand one but new ones are £100-£300+ again like you I want to get the same seimens part or an upgraded version what codes came up on yours? One of my codes said low voltage to egr so I thinl its the actual eletronics of the valve thats knackered

It seems to be a fairly delicate unit and once it's starts to die, then that's it! The gears inside mine look ok, but I didn't strip them all out to check tbh.
I do believe that one or more of the errors that I've had relate to voltages both for the EGR and MAF, from what I gather the ASV can trigger a cascade of errors within the intake/recirculation system, and although it may not always be the culprit it's the best place to start!
From what I gather the part number is 03G128063J, it seems to be listed as a 'controller lid' and is fitted to some A4's,A6's and a couple of Seat's and VW's.

That's interesting,I want aware that you could do without it!
This is something I need to look into before I get my EGR/DPF delete done.....
Did you just remove the 'flap' itself and leave the body in place or use a replacement section?

i bought a egr delete kit that dose away with the asv totally, now my boost hose go's onto the egr delete so there's nothing there at all, i'll post a pic later

Aha, I see. That's the same Darkside egr delete pipe I've got I think.
Much appreciated for the photo, I have picked up a new VDO/Siemens ASV for very little money.
Gonna have to ponder how I'm gonna proceed...
