Hi All, I am about to order my first ever Audi RS, an RS 3 saloon and would be grateful for some advice on what everyone thinks are must haves, come re-sale.
So far my specification is as follows;
Nardo Grey
Interior Super Sports Seats (black-red/black/black/black)
19 inch 5-arm blade gloss black
Door mirror-dim/elec/fold/heat
Hold Assist
Privacy glass
RS sports exhaust system

Any glaring omissions?

Nearly every image I have seen so far features either the Black or Aluminium pack depending on the colour of the car and at around £800 the price seem a bit steep for what you get. It's difficult to see a clear image of a car without either pack and at this stage I have not spec'd it on my car. I suppose its all a matter of personal taste and in my view the Nardo may look better without any gloss black highlights, but without seeing an actual car its difficult to say.

I wouldn't have put hold assist as a resale must have. On the new ones, do they still do the option of the smaller screen in the middle? Because that one is quite crappy and to be avoided. I wouldn't be surprised if they've ditched that altogether though.

At £70, hold assist is a bargain. Should be standard IMO, however.

I went for the hold assist as I have it on my present car and find it very useful and as the previous poster said it's only £70. After studying the spec sheets all weekend the only thing I am thinking about adding is B&O, but it's difficult to say without hearing the standard

Buy the spec you want, not what the next owner would want !!

Good point, I think I am pretty much there.

Mono.pur? I'd agree with adding B&O too, if only for the LED highlights :)

Nardo will most likely affect resale. It's a marmite colour with most people just not getting it. "Battleship grey" "Have they forgot to apply the paint" "Why is your car a primer colour" etc. It's the only free colour option on the car and I think in 3-4yrs time, it will be a right pain in the a** to shift. It can look very flat and it doesn't shine like the deep metallic/pearl colour offerings. A friend of mine ordered a Nardo RS6 with black pack etc at the same time I ordered my Sepang with black pack. When the cars were delivered and sat next to one another, he regretted his decision and wished he had opted for Sepang. He ended up selling it a few months ago as he just wasn't happy with the colour. Be very careful, make sure you see a few nardo cars in the flesh (not in pics) before pressing ahead with it.

If you are 100% convinced on the colour, it surely HAS to have the high black gloss pack, the privacy, the black gloss wheels and the Sports Exhaust? You've got the Exhaust, wheels and the glass sorted but you'll have a nice shiny chrome grill with a battleship grey and it will be a mismatch. The black pack across the front, door frames, mirrors and rear spoiler would set it off much more nicely. (In my opinion) Grey and silver don't go, try to remove as much of the silver/chrome as you can. You're already 80% of the way there with the grey and black look (Privacy/Wheels/Exhaust) I'd suggest if you are sticking with Nardo that the black pack is a MUST.

Comfort Pack, my dealer couldn't tell me, he reckons it will be some sort of parking feature and B&O but he will let me know when he finds out.

Thank you for the advice Leo-RS. I take your point regarding Nardo it is a Marmite colour and I must admit I am not 100% sold. I chose the colour purely because it's an RS only colour which I have only seen in the flesh once. Having looked at a few high definition photographs of an R8 and an RS6 in Nardo I was not keen, I think t suits smaller cars better. I do like the Ara blue but that that keen on the silver pack that most images seem to feature.

Would be better if it had the privacy glass but an Ara Saloon with black pack below....

This is Catalunya red (Also an RS colour)

This is what I have ordered but may change it to Ara blue before its locked down. I need to see the colour in the flesh. the black pack works very well with the Catalunya Red I would say.

Thank's Leo-RS, those colours do really suit the car. What colour seats did you spec?
I think the Ara Blue and the silver grey looks great, but would be a bit concerned how they would look after a little bit of use, dye transfer from jeans etc.

I have the Supersports with the red stitching.

I've had the silver interior before on my previous TTRS and yes, you do get dye transfer from jeans etc but it's easily washed off.

If I do change to the Ara blue, i'll probably add in the red callipers too. The silver interior does look nice in blue cars though but think I'll stick with the Supersports in black with red stitching.

****** on that nardo comment. Nardo is RS only colour with all other models having to stump up £2.5k to get it. Looks great with black pack imho and you don't see it much either other than on the RS models!

Annoyed at me having an opinion on Nardo lol? Catalunya red is also an RS only colour that you would need to stump up £2.5k for but doesn't make it everyone's cup of tea.

Love it or hate it, it's definitely marmite. As such, it may be a pain to sell on.

Does it look flat against Metallic or Crystal? Of course it does, its a solid colour.

Not sure how any of that can get you annoyed lol?

I do like the colour 50% of the time but then see it in this kind of light and think, Hmmm. There are certainly more striking colours shall we say.

Not annoyed just called it ******, which it is.

Ps why any more marmite than any other colour? All colours are personal taste.

Lol, what part of MY OPINION is ******?

Wowzers, someone cares to share a different opinion only for it then to be branded as ******?

Who made you God lol.

As for the marmite comment, just because the colour is. Ask your Brother, ask your Sister, ask you Mother, ask your Granny, get a sense of PUBLIC opinion. Infact, go across to a real Audi RS forum (RS246 forum) search the RS6 forum and see how many Nardo cars there are in comparison to other more vibrant colours. Nardo is marmite because it looks like a base primer that the bodyshop forgot to paint, that's the way its described by many. There are hardly any RS6 owners with Nardo cars, what does that tell you?

You love it because its an RS only colour, great, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it but for me, it doesn't make it anything special as there are a ton of Fiat 500's that come with Nardo as a base paint option too and many other cars are doing the whole battleship grey thing also.

If you read my initial post I advised the chap to go take a look at a Nardo car in the flesh and if he was going to go ahead with it, advising him to get the black pack to keep the look. Again, can't see anything wrong with that advice?

Ok, just been in touch with my local dealer and as luck would have it, they had an RS3 in for service in Nardo, they also had an S3 in Ara Blue as well as a brand new Audi R8 in Ara Blue and under the bright lights of the showroom it looked amazing. I also managed to visit another garage who had an RS3 in Catalunya Red, the car was outside and could have done with a wash, but the colour has a very strong orange tinge to it. I am glad I saw it in person as to my eyes at least it looks nothing like the images in the photographs or videos. For me it now down to Nardo or Ara and I must admit I am leaning more towards Ara, but as had been said many times before colour is a very personal thing, if I were leasing or a bit younger I would go for Nardo, but as I am buying and getting on a bit Ara will probably be the better choice for me.
I am also probably not going to get the black pack/silver pack, nearly every image I have seen so far has either the black or silver pack and if I get the car and think it needs something extra I can always get those areas wrapped n whatever colour I choose.

I thought Ara was amazing, until my work colleague got one and now I see it on shift handover... I've gone off it, it looks too light and is dull in some lights. I'd only have it if I couldn't have something else.

You can't go too far wrong with black!

akeithj, thanks for your input on the Catalunya, that's what I've been told by a few others too so there's obviously an element of opinion that there's an orange glow to it.

I just need to see it up close before I switch my order over to Ara though. Although, I haven't totally ruled out Panther black but would only choose that if I could get the black pack with it (Which I don't think you can at the minute)

You can't go wrong with Black, it's classy and it's timeless and if it's clean, looks more aggressive than any other colour.

Leo you are most welcome. This will be only my second Audi and first RS so I value the opinions of existing RS owners, so thank you for your input. The RS 6 is in my view an amazing and unique car are you pleased with yours?

Who made me God? Who made you God then telling us all how crap nardo is?! This place is ******* hilarious, no wonder all the owners have ****** off.

I'm struggling to determine whether you have genuine mental health issues Tx or you're taking the pis*.

Never in my life have I seen anyone on a car forum act as childish as you are in relation to a paint colour. You are so defensive over Nardo, why? Because you have a Nardo car, you think it's the dogs danglies, I have appeared with an alternative opinion and you throw your toys out the pram as a result.

If owners are leaving this forum, it's got to be down to putting up with halfwits like you who tells them that their opinion is nonsense. It's actually embarrassing for you, give yourself a shake.

Fact of the matter is, Nardo is a solid colour, it's a No Cost option. It's not deep, it's flat and it doesn't shine and glow like pearl/Crystal paints do. These are all facts.

As for the marmite comment, it's exactly that. You go over to the RS6 forums and your childish attitude about Nardo would see you banned. They're a grown up bunch over there. Hardly anyone chooses Nardo on the RS6 as they believe it cheapens the look of their expensive car. It's a love or hate colour. I have spoken with many owners who do not get the colour and many people who do not even drive or have an interest in cars that have made comments about it being a base coat primer etc. These are all opinions out there, not shared by myself actually. I do get Nardo, I said it needs the black pack look to finish it off. 50% of the time I like it. 50% of the time I don't.

Couldn't be any simpler really. The original poster asked about spec and what may or may not be troublesome later on down the line for resale. Certainly in the RS6 circle, Nardo cars are not selling as well as the rest. In the RS3 circle, it's a younger crowd. Fast hatchbacks at the end of the day. I see the Saloon as a little more grown up and as a result I think it would suit a nicer deeper shall I say it classier colour. That's my opinion.

You can throw your toys out your pram all you like but you're not going to change it or influence it. I have a different view to you, get over it, move on, relax. It's the colour of paint ***.

akeithj, apologies for the silly thread hijack, I won't respond to him again, he clearly has issues.

Yes, love the 6, I don't think there's a better car on the road in all honesty. It's the ultimate all rounder.

I seen Ara on an R8 in the showroom and loved it hence why it was my next choice but also considering just keeping it safe and going Panther black too. The joys of ordering a new car haha.

Tx, instead of ruining the chaps thread with your temper tantrums, just send me a PM, I'll send you my number and you can give me a bell if you like.

Cheers,

Leo

Personally I am not too keen on the alloy wheel choices, they look almost identical to the TTS black edition wheels. I have provisionally ordered the gloss black, but am now thinking I may just go for the standard wheel and get it painted if I don't like it. What are anyone else's thoughts on the wheels?

In complete agreement. I was actually a little annoyed that there wasn't a 20" option.

It may also be worth getting the standard wheels, save yourself £650 and then look at selling them on the forum/eBay and purchasing Audi 20" wheels. The thought has crossed my mind as the 3 choices are not great.

I'm going nardo after a lot of thought as my last 5 cars been black and want something totally different.

Agree black pack a must but believe so are black wheels so ordered with standard 5 arm wheels and getting them painted gloss black.

That nardo RS6 has a hell of a roof rack

Nice one, yes, agree on the black look with the Nardo.

Is anyone's tracking on Your Audi yet? Mine still hasn't appeared on it but he did say it would take a few days.

Not sure what u mean tracking but on order book for build week 35 so hope to get towards end of Sept.

Dealer manager allowed me to hijack his order otherwise won't get til 2018

Leo, thank you for all your input. I am very close to making a final decision which I will post on your new thread. My build week is 36, so I will have to decide fairly quickly.
