Hey guys,

So i'm sure someone here has seen this before, basically noticed my coolant was a bit low a few weeks after having a service, assumed a blow Head gasket and checked the oil cap.. and its got some white gunk on it, so car gets put up on stands so we can start getting the head off for checks. Than this little gem showed up.

This is off the hose that goes down to the crankcase breather box, the whole pipe feel to pieces in my hand and had all this white gunk. The oil in the sump is perfectly clean and the low coolant is actually from the T join on the right side of the engine looks like its got a leak so will need to find that part number and replace that.

so anyways my questions for the guys. Do I need to replace the whole box as it looks like a mission to get it off the block or would cleaning out the gunk I can reach and fitting a new pipe sort it out, turns out after a pressure test the gasket is fine.

Item A. that gunk is not from the "inlet?" breather pipe on the right, it came out the pipe on the left and went everywhere.

just take rocker cover off, clean all up, put new pipe on it (secure it with clamps) flush the oil and put new oil to be sure, let it get cold check breath pipe again if still any gank on it. (oil + oil flush will be like 40£)

Thanks man, Yeah thats what we going to do tonight, Chatted to a few Audi mechs and they said its nothing to really worry about just clean what you can, replace the pipe and keep a eye on the oil, I'll do a oil change in two weeks as I do very little driving daily so will be long enough to check it.

So I should be an Audi mech then? (just kidding) xD

That's a severe case of condensation you have there, due to short journeys and land lack of use. Yes, just clean it all up and it'll be ok. You have to get out more mate :racer:
Also you may find your manifolds are a bit clogged with carbon, common trait on tfsi engines.

Thanks man, Yeah I really need to get out more, but replaced the pipe and gave it a clean, Replacing the T joint for the coolant leak this weekend, and already talking to a mate to import me a S3 8P3, need some more excitement in my life :p also he can grab me one from japan with more than half the KM at around what I can sell mine for so almost a no brainer changing.

You may be restricted on who will insure an import car, on line quotes companies always ask this question, so keep that in mind.

Now days they are ridiculous on price and the policy agreements... for everything, when comes to pay or do any service you got from them.. my mate got crashed his Leon FR (64 plate), he waited 2 weeks for courtesy car (not his fault, hit by lorry meanwhile parked)
