I am having issues with the gearstick. It's an odd one but intermittent.

Sometimes the gearstick will stick left and right, but sometimes it's perfect.

I've had the gaitor off taken the mechanism apart re-greased and still the same...

Anyone else had this or have any ideas?

Check cables, cable bushes, selector mechanism on top of gearbox

I've greased everything.

It seems to happen once the car is up to temperature.

The issue is the small plastic 2 part bush that sits on top of the shift tower on the gearbox end.

It's usually caused by moisture getting inside the bush and causing corrosion. It happened on my wifes golf and got really bad.

You need to replace the bush, and really thoroughly clean out the housing using sand paper too.
