Hi everyone,

I parked under a tree on Saturday morning on the hot weekend (in the UK) just gone, and got back to the car Monday morning.

My S3 was covered in bird poo..I think the only way to have got more s*!t on it would have been to have had it lowered into a long drop at Glastonbury festival!

I fear, especially with it being a black car on a very hot weekend, it has been heavily baked on. The four-hour drive home was in the rain, and by the time I got home, most had gone. The remainder came off easily with a pressure washer.

Two washes and a polish later and I can see the paintwork is damaged. My assumption is that it is the laquer layer. It is most notably on the roof where there remains ghosting around where the droppings lay. I guess there must be 10-15 'marks'.

I have resigned myself that it will likely need professional attention, but thought I would ask the question on here before I went down that route.

Does anyone have any recommendations on 'home' treatments I can try? Else, is there anyone within a sensible distance from Bristol that you might recommend taking it to?

Cheers everyone. Please park away from trees!

James.

I had the same on my old S3.
Autoglym paint restorer worked well, although 100%

Damn, Sorry to hear this, not sure about how you'd go about repairing damage caused by bird poop especially once it starts etching into the paint... One product which I have invested in and now constantly keep a box in the glove compartment is Autoglymn Bird Dropping Wipes, seem to work well when caught out with a present out of the blue.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I shall gently try the Autoglym Paint Renovator, and failing that, look for a detailing outfit.

Can anyone recommend a good South West based place?

Reading on here, it that taking it back to Audi is not necessarily advised (due to competence of their body shop personnel), although I am admittedly a little miffed that this amount of damage can be caused in less that 24 hours.

I presume there can be no blame apportioned to them for this?

Cheers. James
