just received my company car which is an s3 black edition 2017 and it has not rear parking sensors.

Kinda find it odd as its a high spec car and also checked online at Audi standard spec and it shows rear parking sensors.

Can someone confirm if this vehicle should come with rear parking sensors ?

I think it depends on model year. Pretty sure the previous MY didn't have them as standard, but they do now.

its brand new and 2017 model which is why i find it a bit odd

My 2017 S3 doesn't have them either, they only became standard in the MY18 cars which I don't think are out yet.

car was delivered last week on 2017 plates and surely such a high spec car would have them as standard

I have the facelift and it doesn't come with sensors as standard, the MY18 will do but I don't think they are being delivered yet.

Like I said, mine is 17 plate too but it's the MY17 model year. Only MY18 are standard. Did you not check the specification sheet before you ordered??

Well thats annoying as so used to parking sensors and pretty much every car i have owned had them fitted

Except this one. If you've only just received it it was probably built 2 months ago and ordered sometime around new year, the brochure/online resource that was in place then is the reference for what is standard on your car, not the revised version available now.

You can either have them retro fitted or learn to live without, because unless you pay for them, you're not getting them on a MY17 car. The MY18 cars which are now in the pipeline will have them, along with a price increase...

its a company car so guessing live without and cant really complain as loving the car but just a bit miffed with no parking sensors

It is a clever option to offer.. Id imagine most if not every customer ticked the box. Reltively cheap technology too!

Yeah agree and the spec that was sent to me when i ordered in Feb did list parking sensors. As mentioned its a company car and I'm so used to sensors and a bit ****** they are not fitted as its kinda standard fit on many cars and would have though on £35k vehicle they would have been added

As others have said, only came as standard on the rear for MY18 cars, along with the £400 price rise across the A3 range.

Welcome to the World of Audi..........

You could always make a constant beeping noise when you put the car in reverse, and increase the frequency when approaching an object.

Does that help? :)

I never really thought about the fact that Audi didn't include rear parking sensors as standard!

One of the reasons why I originally ordered a Golf R was that sensors and ACC were standard - and I didn't want to pay extra for an Audi with the same performance and less features. This was before the Audi was face lifted - now I don't think there are as many differences.

I personally always use my reverse camera more than the sensors when parking - and I specced my S3 Saloon with the self parking and rear camera because I would never buy a car without a reversing camera again and I always fancied a self parking car!

I cant believe Audi dont spec hill hold assist / autohold as standard. Its on every MK7 Golf, even the base spec cars.

The rear camera resolution on the Audi is gash..... I wouldn't bother

You're paying for a better quality car, it's the equivalent of buying Skoda then buying a VW and complaining that your skoda had more standard options!

Yep and lesser brands have to have something going for them so they pack in the features to compensate for the lesser brand image and cheaper materials. With Audi you quite literally pay your money, and make your choice.

What did we all do before parking sensors?

Answer, use your eyes and mirrors it's the easy solution.

Hey ho, your new company car will be due in a few years and it will have sensors lol

I was actually speaking with a guy at work on Friday, who is looking at the new Honda Civic. His concern was that it had no rear camera on the SE model and visibility was poor. It was about £3k more for next SR model with camera and he wasn't wanting to pay that, apparently you can't spec camera on to SE.
Anyway he asked if because it would be a factory order did I think they would redesign the rear of the car for him to make visibility better!!

I kid you not!!

Could not stop laughing at him

I disagree with you guys in every way; whilst Audi is more premium than VW the cars are pretty much the same and the pricing is pretty much the same.

You weren't getting a more features to make up for the lower quality; VW were just offering a more compelling package and arguably still are with the facelift Golf R.

I chose to change to Audi because the dealer gave me a better deal and I fancied a more premium car; but comparing the Golf R to a Skoda is silly - there are no 310HP 4 wheel drive Skodas or Seats!

Who compared the Golf R to a Skoda? My comment was based on VW compared to Skoda as a brand.

As you said you chose the more premium car. VW Group pecking order of Skoda, Seat, VW, Audi will may share some of the same switch gear, engines, transmissions etc but there will be a distinct differences in quality as you move up the pecking order.

So what happens with my order, ordered back in March and have the cost for rear parking sensors factored into my overall cost, but my S3 build date isn't until 10th June, which would mean mines MY18 and they should come as standard?

Coming from a mk7 golf gti to the A3 the build quality is the same imo . It's the 4 rings you're paying for and the privilege ' of driving round with them on your front bumper and ****. The dash binnacle is exactly the same as the bottom spec Leon as it's in the A3. Do miss the felt lined door bins from the golf tho

But the price of the MY18 Model has increased by £400,so it balances itself out

Deliberately left them out as they only share limited platforms with the ones I listed, Q5-Macan, Touareg-Q7-Cayenne and R8-Huracan, think that's it?

PS don't forget Porsche and Bentley :smirk:

Yes they will come as standard, quite what you're final invoice price will be is something you'll have fight out with your stealer. Same happened to me. I spec'd park assist so I now get the rear ones as standard and pay less for the park assist pack but the base price of the car has gone up so my overall cost doesn't change.

Its Audi, everything is an optional extra to make the car cheaper to go into and more attractive. As soon as you want more pay more. Then come trade in get nothing for the optional extras. Welcome to the premium branding.
