Hi all

So I started off wanting a 184 diesel, then it went to a used S3 and finally to a new S3. I don't know how but it did, just wondering what you all think on the current deal.

S3 SB STronic
PCP over 48 months
10k miles per year
Only added extra is the privacy glass.
4.5k deposit inc my px
Starting price was - 35,750
Currently - 32,547
Payments of £320

Do we think it's possible to get the payments down to £300? Think I need an extra £950 off to reach my target payments.

Also the spec isn't great, should I look to get a better spec? This one is already on a boat on its way so the uk so 2-3 weeks wait.

Cheers

Dean

It looks fine if you dont want any extras...but if you do then its not!

Im opinion the VC and SS seats are a must along with the privacy.

You monthiles and wait for car with jump dramatically if you add options though!

What colour is it?

It was the ibis white, I love the nano grey though.

Yeah I know that's the only thing, I love the SS seats the one we test drove had them 66 plate. Just can't stretch my payments to much.

Wonder if I spec'd the tech pack with VC and had one build what that would do to my payments.

How longs the build normally take?

In my opinion both options make the car stand out from just being another fast hatchback.

Unsure on increase but generally for every £1k spent it adds £25/pcm

Current drive the deal offers on the same car factory order if you don't mind waiting are £31328. Or if you call them they may have a dealer who has cars in stock. I bought a MK3 TT before getting my S3 from them, the car was £41k and fully loaded with options and got it for £26900 with Audi finance contribution. Got my current 3door hatch S3 S Tronic for £30337 in Mythos black, SS seats, rear parking sensors, VC and privacy glass.

Just did an ibis white with privacy:

Ibis and privacy

If you take your £4.5k off that price = £26,566 to finance...so alter the figures to show that "Total amount of credit" =

Sportb

OR another option, get the black edition which has the privacy glass you want as standard, PLUS 18" '5-arm turbine' design alloy wheels in magnesium look, Black Styling Pack and Bang & Olufsen Sound System...then do the same with the figures =

Blk1

Blk2

Less than £5 extra for the black edition!

The black edition alloys aren't as nice as the normal ones though. Il have a play around and see what I can get.

I didn't like them when i first saw them, but now I've seen them a few times I think they look OK!!!

Would adding optional extras increase the bloon payment at the end? As you'd expect the car to be worth more for them?

Unfortunately not mate...

Although it could be argued they will offer you slightly better trade in with more options. Hard to quantify though...

I've just signed up for a pretty basic spec S3.

S3 Hatchback
S-Tronic
Navarro Blue
Folding Mirrors

£35,905 (apparently will be a £400 price increase soon...)

Discounted price £29850

With £500 deposit it's coming out at £392 over 42months. I'm aiming to put in £2500 and pay around £360 over 36m.

I'm like you. Do like the extra options and black styling of the black edition, but not a fan of the wheels, so stuck with the standard S3.

Another one!! The price went up in April by £400.

So I've been back in to test drive a manual and much proffer the s tronic. I guess I'd get used to the manual but the s tronic is nice.

So spec'd a white S3 s tronic with tech pack which includes the VC. Delivery would be September on a 67 plate.

Payments are at with 326 with 5k deposit from me (Going to sell my car privately). Going to see if I can get any better, neighbour works for lookers so il see if he can get me any more discount.

Just be aware that there is no guarantee you will have £5k of equity at the end! Always have the frame of mind you'll have nothing.

Yeah I'm very aware that the deposit is pretty much gone and most likely won't be there at the end. My thinking is that my circumstances will be a lot better in 4 years, once I'm qualified.

I might end up keeping the car once the 4 years is over.

And I've requested a quote from "drive the deal" & "coast2coast" to see what they come back with, orangewheels was roughly the same as I've got from lookers so didn't bother with them.

If you're thinking about owning the car, my advice would be to seriously consider shorting the term of the finance agreement. It will dramatically reduce the interest you pay, and save you at least £2k. Probably more!

Also don't think of the deposit as a deposit. It's just an upfront payment so that you can adjust the amount you pay per month. A PCP is just a loan with a portion of the loan deferred to the end. It's no different to getting a bank loan and putting in, say, £5k of you're own money and using the bank loan to pay the rest. That £5k is no more a deposit as it is with a PCP. The only downside of a PCP compared to a bank loan is that it costs much much more in interest, even at the same APR, since the final payment never reduces. Of course it comes with the advantage of lower monthly payments, but unfortunately much higher overall cost.
