hi guys

I have attached a video of what happens when I raise the clutch. the engine violently moves and then knocks.

since replacing anti roll bar drop links and bushes(lemforder) this has developed.

I have a knocking noise when going over small bumps or un even roads too could it be all linked?

I'm assuming it's the engine mounts? both or just one?

hope someone can help

I'd check your transmission and snub mounts. I believe they're the ones that mainly resist for/aft movement like that.

okay mate how hard it is to replace the transmission mount? I have seen the snub mount and doesn't look too bad condition but will replace at same time

uploaded a picture of the transmission mount and doesn't look great.

what mount would be best for my 2.0tdi?

do all manual b7 mounts fit? looking at the 034 mount

Have you taken the bolt out? If not I'm pretty sure that's why your engines rocking around.

If the bolt was missing, I'd fit one before you drive it.

I'm not 100%, but yeah, I'm pretty sure there should be a big bolt in the middle holding the gearbox to the mount.

Kieran that engine mount definitely needs replacing as it's split wide open and lost its oil. I personally would do both.

You have a bolt and an extra piece missing off that transmission mount.

Unfortunately you can't purchase the extra piece on its own so you will have to purchase the whole rear mount.

I also wouldn't go for the 034 mount on a diesel as I looked into one and even the softest street mount they do is too harsh for a diesel.

The black piece running across the top of the rubber part under the bolt is missing

as the other chaps say, you need to both, engine and the gearbox mount, how on earth have you been driving around with all your important bits swaying around...I think a swift trip to your local TPS or similar is required pronto chap.

That's basically the same one I replaced on my car Kieran but you also need the bolt and the extra black piece of the mount.

If you don't have that extra piece on the mount, every time you let off the accelerator the mount will be under a lot of force and may end up ripping straight out.

The only way you will get it is to either buy an OEM one from Audi or TPS.

Or purchase one off eBay that's a complete mount. It doesn't matter if the large silver mount isn't the same as you can always use the one off your car.

Is yours a Quattro or FWD as the brackets a totally different so the central bolt will be a different length

I'd go for the first link for the mount.....even if the bracket is slightly different yours will fit.

As for the actual engine mount you can either go OEM aftermarket rubber ones but you'll need resistors I you don't get an error code.

If you want it to be smooth I'd go OEM as they are soft when idling to reduce vibrations but stiffen up once you're driving.

if I were to go for ones with out the sensor would it throw a light on the dash or just a fault on vcds?

I honestly don't know Kiaren.

I would have thought it would've shown a fault with the state of your engine mount.

I'm not sure the B6 ones are the same. I'd be looking at B7 2.0 tdi mounts. Iirc they are also handed. I've had a quick look and they are around £35 for rubber ones.
