Exhaust buzz on deceleration

I've had this for a long while on my car. It's annoying more than anything else.

2.0 TFsi 2007. Weird exhaust buzzing noise on deceleration. Rev it and when the revs fall back it does it, at stand still as well.

I thought it was the flexi tube on the downpipe but nope....had the down pipe off, the cement type silencing material has been removed. Still does it. Possibly the cat but it have had a stethoscope on that and it sounds ok.....

I'm at a loss as to what it is. Everything is tight. It's definitely coming from the front section/downpipe area.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe you've had the same issue?

Could be a loose heat sheild pal? I had the same buzzing noise on my old st24 and in the end took it off

Thanks buddy. That was the first thing I checked but nope... They're all solid.
 
I have this on my s4 and all videos I see on you tube have it really bugs me too its bang on the 1k for me so even when driving in slow traffic and revs are at 1k I can feel it in the car. When I sit stationery and rev when the Rev's fall and hit 1k I get the rattle. Sombody said it's normal and is possibly the tentioner

It is very annoying isn't it? It's most definitely not normal though. One of my neighbours cars is the same as mine and hers doesn't do it. Mine rattles until about 2000 rpm and is then silent. It never does it under acceleration only when you let off the gas.

I'm on a mission to get to the bottom of it. I'm having an exhaust made in a couple of weeks, cat back, I'll ask them while I'm there and report.
 
I have very similar to this. Worked out it was something to do with the turbo. Thought the actuator arm. Now think it's the small flap inside/on the turbo. Can't think what it's called but have seen it described on Google.
 
That's interesting Kevin. Never thought at all about that. It's hard to pin the noise down. It sounds like it's coming from the cat but you know what it's like sometimes with these noises. Frustrating though that's for sure. Thanks for your help buddy.
 
I don't have a turbo I have a supercharger. I've seen videos of after market exhaust and it still does it check YouTube vids of s4 b8 exhaust.

I actually bought a small clip the holds the actuator arm. I heard that they can rattle and Audi supplied the part. On some cars the rattle goes away with clip fitted but on some not so. A ****** to fit though.
