Emmisions update

Not touched, removed or replaced either of mine. Never had a problem. (DPF & EGR)
I'm sure it really depends on driving styles, pop a few miles to work, around town, to the shops per day, sure your going to have EGR/DPF problems.
Long journeys & motorway per day, little problems.

Just done 224K in my A3 2.0tdi 170bhp 2010 plate, no problems.

Rare not to see a problem , these emissions control devices are an epidemic of problems , on every car forum someone has issues .

They're just bad for your engine anyway , strangles the flexibility , power and mpg , puts fuel and increased soot in the engine oil too .

Already said, my driving style;
1) Drive like the wind.
2) Each short journey to work is 43 miles each way.
3) Two or three journeys up the motorway per week, 150 miles each way
4) I think one of the main ones is, I change the oil every 5000 miles.

224K miles now on the clock, same clutch, same EGR, same DPF.
These cars were made for driving.

Out of interest are you on the same turbo ??

Yes, same turbo.
Only things I have replaced have been about three sensors & flap runner motor on the manifold, that was after 180K.

Normal running costs, brakes, wheel bearings, drop links, CV joins & tyres normal wear stuff.
I always change the oil between 5000 & 8000 miles, but the norm is 5000.

Same turbo, clutch, EGR, DPF & injectors etc.

That's good going that. I've got an A3 170 TDI Quattro i got with 23k on. Plan on keeping it a long time if it's reliable as I'm after a 3 to 4 yr old 2nd hand RS5 as a weekend toy.

I've clocked up 45k now and only parts that have been replaced were haldex pump and front propshaft doughnut rubber both under warranty. Haldex control unit got corrosion in it and packed in i was able to strip it, clean it and been fine for months. So far nothing else has needed changing except tyres and on 2nd set of discs and pads.

My A3 is a 170bhp 2010 plate with REVO remap, about 205bhp.
I have a 2004 Audi TT 1.8T 225bhp for weekend messing/playing about with.

A3 my daily hack, would not change it.
