My dealer dropped me a note yesterday that they are taking RS3 FL Sportback orders, ETA into NZ around October/November, maybe sooner but no guarantees. Extremely small numbers -- only 7 into my dealership this year.

I better get my act together and finalise my spec!

Pricelist and standard spec attached.

Yeah, quite common here. NZ is a relatively low volume market, they like to push the premium brands to even more premium price points, but there is a lot of standard kit.

Because of low supply I expect there won't be much negotiation room on the price.

Interesting that the Sedan wheels are available as an option but only in 255 width. This is going to get expensive......

Any ceramic brakes option?
Surely Audi will include them this time??? Surely????

Hm interesting how little they have available. Considering you already have Demo's, I am surprised how far away delivery is.

Wow NZ prices are mental, a lot of standard stuff but that's come up to around £58,500 for the Saloon. According to this video, the US price for the saloon has been confirmed at $55,800, so £43,500.

What about the sportback? Wasn't the PFL around £40k?

Yeah in plain vanilla form, the New Zealand price is totally irrelevant to us in the UK.As per Audi's pricing structure the Sportback will be just over £46k....roughly £1800 less than a Saloon,a new S3 Saloon S-tronic is £38k....etc etc,the RS models are around £9k more than the S models

Ok, working on my finalising my spec, and pretty much settled on this:

Code Option
8VFRWY Audi RS3 Sportback MY17/MY18
T3 Nardo Grey
49V 19” Wheels - 255/30 and 235/35 Gloss Black
7X5 Audi Park Assist with parallel parking assist
7Y5 Audi Active Lane Assist
8G4 Matrix LED Headlights incl. dynamic turn signals - front & rear
6XK Heated electrically adjustable exterior mirrors with anti-glare action and kerb assist
6FJ Exterior mirror housings in gloss black
PAH Gloss Black Styling Package
9VS Bang & Olufsen sound system
3FB Panoramic glass roof
5MB Inlays Carbon
PEF RS Interior Design Package
9ZE Audi Phone Box and Audi Connect

I need help deciding on the wheels -- 19" Rotor Design (same as pre-FL), but in Matt Titanium or Gloss Black? Thoughts and opinions please!

Well I initially specced titanium but then changed to gloss black & glad I did as they look $hi7 hot & set the car off a treat, especially with black pack, privacy glass & black mirrors.

Seriously the gloss black alloys look amazing

Yeah I am leaning towards the gloss black. What are they like for keeping clean? Do they show brake dust badly? How resilient to stone chips etc?

I've had titanium too on my S5 & they were really easy to look after.

You do have to be a bit more careful when cleaning the black alloys with them being gloss but the payback is when they are clean they look stunning.

I've not had any stone chips so far since March 16, so a good hard coating. Yes they show brake dust but only after a week of driving but they still look glossy.

They just look meaner imo :sunglasses:

With Nardo grey I would definitely go gloss black alloys.

Do you really need lane and parking assist?! The car is a doddle park.

Also, do you get hill hold assist or whatever it's called as standard? If not, it is superb and well worth the £80 we get charged in the UK.

Yeah 7X5 and 7Y5 are on my "maybe" list...as you say not really necessary. I never use park assist in my 335i, so I can't imagine I'd use in the RS3 either.

Damnit, might be priced out of it then. Do you think they'll give any deposit contribution?

What in the world does it actually do? I don't have it, yet I have no problem setting off on hills.

It's great, Andy. You can take your foot off the brake once at a standstill. If you press harder on the brake when at a standstill the stop start kicks in. At also puts on your handbrake once the car is off etc. I can't believe Audi don't fit it as standard.

That said, my brother has it on his S8 and it's not quite as good as the Golf's.

It sounds like nothing, but I found it really annoying when I first got my RS3 (which doesn't have it) and kept taking my foot off the brake.

Do you have trouble pressing the handbrake button @D0C ;)

It's more in traffic. It's nice to be able to take your foot off the brake! Like I said, simple, but very effective.

Ooh, that does sound pretty good actually, especially being able to take my foot off the brake in traffic.

Regarding the stop/start, I've previously wondered whether it acts smarter on cars that have the ACC camera fitted. There's a few crossroads near me where I have to stop briefly to look and then set off again and the S/S kicks in a bit too quickly in those scenarios and it's annoying. I figure that a car with the ACC camera could be a bit smarter about trying to judge whether I'm stopping because there's a car in front of me, or stopping because I'm just at a junction, and perhaps be a bit slower to stop the engine if there's nothing in front of me.

You just need to ease off the brake andy. After a while you get a feel of how much you need to press the brake to activate S/S.

It's very intuitive. A gentle push and it will hold the car, even if you stop pressing on the brake pedal. A harder push will activate the stop start if you want. Then a gentle tap will start the car but keep it held. Or a hard tap will start the car and get it moving.

I turn the damn thing off as soon as I get in the car. Infuriates me when it stops at a t junction or roundabout!

That's where auto hold is good. Because it only does it if you press on the brake hard enough once at a standstill. So worth the £80 after all, Terminator ;)

I'm not sure if it's the way I drive or the fact I'm in dynamic and S every day but start stop only kicks in for me when I park after buying a mickey d's and stopping to munch it. After 5 mins the thing starts back up and I Sh*t myself.

Nothing to do with dynamic mode, its when your in S mode that start/stop doesn't activate. With it starting back up after 5 minutes, its probably to do with it draining the battery.

When at the Audi dealer I took a few new photos of the Ara Blue RS3 Sedan. Looked amazing in blue.

I also picked up the new official Audi RS3 brochure which covers the sedan and the Sportback.

Pics of both can be found in this photo library: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0gJ0DiRHGZKbHw

Great spec and well done for going for the gloss black alloys which I know you won't regret.
Pretty quick build time too so no 7 month wait like I had.
Enjoy the wait now and look forward to collection day :)

Something I'm a bit concerned about is the Saloon having a smaller boot than the sportback. 315L on the saloon according to that compared to 335L on sportback. I was already annoyed going from the 370L in my old 8P A3 to the 340L on the S3 FL. The S3 saloon has 390L boot so I was expecting more than 315L. In your picture album, the mythos black RS3 saloon boot seems bigger than 315L.
