All opinions appreciated!
1. My yellow emissions warning light came on, and stayed on, today. I drove to the local Audi dealer who booked the car in to look at, but first available date is not until next Thursday! Guy at reception said it was alright to continue using the car, unless I got a red warning light or lost power. Wondered what you guys thought about this advice and whether you have any ideas of the cause of the emissions light appearing? Car is 15 plate S4 Avant, with 20k miles, serviced at dealers in March at 19k miles.
2. I know I should have asked at the dealers when I was there but I didn't. Bought the car from an independent dealer in February and I know that all Audi's have a 3 year warranty as standard, but how can I check whether the original, previous, owner took out an extended warranty, or not?

Thanks for any help offered!

1) There has been a recall for 3.0 TFSI engined cars for an ECU update in order to stop a false positive on emissions (cat related I think). Ask your dealer to confirm if your car is affected - if so then indeed there should be no problem driving it. I have an early 2015 S5 sportback and mine is not affected by the recall. However in general the dealer is right - the yellow warning is not urgent.

Thanks for this, Dippy.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

If the previous owner potentially purchased an Audi Extended Warranty, then Audi themselves should be able to tell you if it has warranty or not.

Dealer has this on their system. I know this as I've recently been chasing for evidence of my year 4 warranty as I have no paperwork for it. They sent me a screen grab. Example...

Thanks JRock247 and scotty76 for this. I'll ask when I'm in on Thursday.

Here's an update on the emissions light. After taking the car to the dealer this morning, they called me a couple of hours later to tell me an exhaust gasket needs replacing and this is what is throwing the warning light. They don't have one in stock but will get one in this afternoon, but can't say whether the car will be ready to collect today and can they keep it overnight. Good news is it will be covered by warranty.
Does this sound O.K?

Got the car back yesterday and they "replaced a gasket and clamp after the cat on bank2". All seems fine now.

Guess what? I have driven the car for no more than fifty (50!) miles since collecting it from the dealers and the same emissions light has reappeared. Back into the dealers with it this lunchtime and they have kept it and will let me know what they find! Frustrating or what?

Next thing you know they'll come out the immortal phrase "have you considered a newer car sir? We'll do a good deal for you"

Dealers have now told me that they have found a fault code that indicates that I need a new cat and they are on back order, so I'll have to wait but can get a courtesy car tomorrow. Wonder what I'll end up with?

Now being told by dealer that the new cat (for bank2) won't be in until Tuesday and because its a twenty {20!!!!!) hour job, as the gearbox has to be dropped because of pipework (!!!!!!!!), it will likely be the end of next week before I get it back.

All I can say is thank f... it's covered by warranty!

All problems with cat now fixed (including hairball feva !), hopefully.
