OBD11

Do you have instructions for the 2 phone connection? Any specific spec needed for this?

Assuming you're using OBD11

Control Unit 5F (Information CU)
>Security Access : 20103
>Adaption
>Vehicle Configuration
>Support_Second_Phone (select and change to ON)

>ok
long press green arrow to code.

Reboot your MMI and then select TEL, select right menu button and Connect Additional Phone should now be available.

You haven't managed to activate the wifi hotspot - allow the MMI to use your phone's data?

Hadn't looked tbh as I've got my own data sim in the slot between the SD cards, I'll have a scout around next time I'm fiddling with it though.

Im interested in doing this.. my thoughts were that Audi connect would also use this connection instead of using its own for 3 year?

my plan was to buy a pre paid sim with say 12gb on it to use as the wifi access point, but I read somewhere that if I did this all the google maps and Audi connect data would also use this and potentially use up my paid for data rather than use my included data in the Audi connect service.?

would you mind confirming how it works please

Cheers

Andy..

To be honest I'm probably not the best example as mine is a sim from a 3 MiFi dongle at 15gb a month allowance, that I expense because I use it for business also

If it'll help satisfy any curiosities then when it rolls over I'll monitor the data usage for a month, I don't generally use Googlemaps but I'll turn it on anyway.

Regardless, when you use your own sim then it gets used for everything, replacing the eSim

ahh ok the bottom line is what I suspected :( dam it and thanks for confirmation

When you code these options can they be turned off. My Mrs had a focus with high beam assist and we had to switch it off on certain roads as it struggled with the street light and oncoming cars.. ..

Also how do you code the options and I take it Audi won't void the warranty

Hi CJ,

With the High Beam Assist on the Audi you're just enabling the function, it's not permanently on by default. Once it's coded and the lights are on, you push the stalk forward to turn on the Auto feature, same again to turn it off.

The coding that we've done here is with an OBD 11 port adapter and mobile app. As far as the warranty is concerned, all you're doing is enabling pre existing options/functions or turning them off.

Hey guys .. so I want to enable lane assist and I have obd11 but I haven't yet tried it.

So the cars a week old, I have the matrix lights with high beam assist already and I sold my vcds (as I believe it doesn't work on this platform) and I'm a bit concerned about making changes that I may struggle to revert back (I'm oldskool VCDS user and was easy to track changes )

I'm a bit nervous about what Actual codes I just need just for lane assist via obd11. Also do I have all the hardware required for this to work? I can see the camera behind the rear view(pre sense city) not sure about the rumble motor in the steering wheel though .. I don't want to be generating errors and the dealer bust me for 'fiddling'

Also why doesnt Audi switch this feature on if we have the relevant hardware already?

Any thoughts / help greatly appreciated

Andy.

Thanks I've read that. But still not quite understanding what I need for just lane assist. I guess I should really fire up obd11 and see what bits and bytes I have already

With OBD11 you don't need to use bits/bytes.. if you follow the guide it shows the OBD11 labels on the left, VCDS bits/bytes on the right.

The only thing I'd clarify is whether you have the cameras in the wing mirrors or not, if you don't have them, don't enable "Lane Change Assistant" as this will generate errors.

Mine works just fine, automated steering, wheel rumble etc

thanks for the reply @DarGri so would you mind confirming what I need for lane assist only please? as im still confused as the forum post talks about enabling high beam assist as well ..

I don't have the cameras in the wing mirrors .. I still don't understand why Audi don't enable this ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Zippster,

Here's the process copied directly from the first post at the end of the link that was posted..

•If using OBDEleven use all the directions •only on the left half of the "|" symbol, if •using VCDS use all the directions on the •right side of the "|".

•UPDATE:
•Security codes:
•A5- 20103

•ALL Coding:

•A5 - Frt Sens. Drv. Assist
•HC>Active | Byte 16>Bit 7
•EFP>Active | Byte 12>Bit 3

•17 - Dash Board EDIT:
•Lane Assistant>Active | Byte 4>Bit 6

•09 - Central Electrics
•Heading Control Config>heading_control | •Byte 35>Bit 0

•44 - Steering Assistance
•Heading Control Assistant>Active | Byte •2>Bit 7

•ALL ADAPTATIONS:

•5F - Information Electronics

•Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2>menu_d•isplay_Lane_De parture_Warning = Set •Value to “Activated”

•Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2>menu_d•isplay_Lane_De •parture_Warning_over_threshold_high = •Set Value to “Activated”

•Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2>LDW_HC••A_0x19> Set Value to “Activated”

•Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-•LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus> Set Value to •“Terminal 15”

•A5 - Frt Sens. Drv. Assist

•BAP Personalization = Set Value to “Not •Activated”

•Personalization of lane dept. warning Cl. 15 •on = Set value to “Last Setting”

•System mode, lane depart. warn, = Set •Value to “Selection via menu”

•Switch-on condition, lane depart. warn. = •Set value to “On” (I had to toggle this as this •is the final step that I believe mimics •pressing the button to actually activate it. •You know it was successful when the Lane •markings show up in the VC)

———

You can tweak the vibration intensity, warning time, and steering effort in these A5 adaptations:

UPDATE
Directional stabilization assist driver inact deactiv threshold (3 options)

Directional stab. assist.: intensity: steering wheel vibration (3 options)

Directional stab. assist.: intensity: power steeringsupport (3 options)

If you follow this you'll have Lane Assist, all you need is the OBD11 adapter with PRO code and the mobile application, The final section in bold italics is there so that you can tweak the sensitivity in OBD11

Hi DarGri

Do you have the specific instructions for Traffic Sign Recogniton as well as High Beam Assist? Many thanks in anticipation.

Sorry mate, nothing specific. The only person I've seen to claim success has gone dark and the post that links to his "explanation" is dead. Not suggesting he's not done it but no confirmation.

If you look through the modules for central electrics and driver assistance possibly dash/mmi too, there's references to enabling it but I've had no joy with mine. I believe this is down to me only having the 5" Monochrome dis, it may well work straight away with the 7" colour and VC.

Hi - just waiting for OBD11 to turn up: how to I enable the High Beam assist? I'm going to start with that and then move on to other coding when I have a better feel of how to use.

The A4 B9 doesn't have camera's in the wing mirrors, though, if you've pre-sense, it has a single camera in the rear view mirror...

Aren't they in the wing mirrors for the 360 degree view option?

I really don't trust myself to re-code my car. Does anywhere provide the service of activating theses pieces of coding at a cost?

Just look in the VCDS map section and see who is near to you. Most members will sort you out for a few beers/minimal fee compared to a dealership! :)

Brand new to this type of thing. I've had a look in the Google play store, there are several OBD2 apps, which one do I need?

Also, what hardware do I need to buy? If someone can add a link to Amazon or eBay, that would be great.

Even better, is anyone close to Bristol or south west who could do this for me? Happy to pay.

What's the difference between VCDS and OBD11? Sorry for being so dumb.

If any one can assist me I am in North Lincolnshire about 10mins from the Humber bridge.

Assuming that you don't screw anything else up while activating the new features, are there any implications for the manufacturer's warranty in 'cheating the system'? I wonder what the Service Dept think if or when they discover that your vehicle does things that aren't in the spec for it. I'd love to have a go at adding some new options to my car, but knowing my luck I'd be bound to mess up something else.

Yes but we're talking lane change assistance, or side assist, which uses the radar sensors in the rear bumpers https://www.audi.co.uk/glossary/a/audi-side-assist.html

So, there are cameras but they're for the Parking Assist. Lane Change Assist uses the ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers.. seemingly the faults noted on AudiWorld when trying to activate this are generated by the lack of Side Assist warning indicators mounted in the side mirrors..

My bad

First off, you can track your changes with the app and revert back if you screw up.

Plus, mines in the dealership this week for some repairs, I'll let you know if anything is said

Shows you which app also, android only though.

Gents, can I just ask if I'd be able to use OBD11 on my B8.5? From what I have read on their website it should be fine.

Rob - the these all '1 touch' changes or do they need specific coding?

High beam, rear lights and needle sweep - I used the built in "apps" within obdeleven.
There was a fair few changes for the lane assist. Took a good ten minutes to find all the relevant options to change. Would be alot quicker next time.

Ok so, so far..

Lane Assist, working
High Beam Assist, working
Sign Recognition, work in progress (may only work with 7" DIS/VC)
Alarm Chirp when locking/unlocking, working
Support for second phone connection, working (x2 BT phone connections)
Disabled seatbelt chime, working (private land/campsites etc)
Adblue level indicator in servicing/checks, almost working (showing in MMI but always initializing sensor)
Auto tilt mirror in reverse, jittery so work in progress.
VIM, working

I'll update when there's more :rockwoot:

Hi DarGri

Did you use the 'app' to enable VIM?
I've read on other forums people saying they've had problems with other functions since activating

See:
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4.../enable-video-motion-obdeleven-2908516/page3/

I enabled VIM (VIM/SMS/Browser) over the weekend and I think it broke other stuff. If I browse news stories and the like via AudiConnect, I always get the message like "cannot be displayed while in motion". The interesting part is, I was parked with the engine off while getting this message. I reset the MIB, but the message persists. The same message is displayed when I try to look at information in the Google Earth overlay - things like pictures and Wiki entries and such. This was stuff that worked before I enabled VIM.

Have you noticed anything like this?
