Hi guys,

I have the 2009 A4 Saloon SE, and have noticed something on the very bottom spar

At the front of the bumper, middle and right at the bottom there is a grey plastic bar running across

I've noticed it had 2 screws (I think) on the left side and on the right

Thins is, right st the centre there is a big crack now and although it's not very noticeable, I know it's there and can see it

This happened when we were driving along and a big'ish stone came hurtling across the ground form the back of a Lorry and luckily it only hit that spar

Without having to purchase a new bumper, can this spar be replaced easily enough as it doesn't need spray painted or anything

Post a pic mate, will give us a better idea

I will do buddy when I get home, I'm Offshore the now in Denmark :)

Hmmm ok, I'll try and find a place who can supply this part then :)

You could try the parts request system on this forum.

The new one arrived this morning and is perfect

Not bad price considering it was only £20 more

Thanks guys for the help on here, again greatly appreciated

Guys do any of you know if these black plastic grommet type items can just be pulled out ?

I tried pulling slightly to change our the old cracked on but didn't want to pull too much in case I snapped something

I presume these are the only things holding the splitter.

I also noticed one middle screw, as per below, which I removed but still nothing came away

This is completely doing my head in now :(

I've tried to prise one of the black circles down with a crew driver but it's not coming away, I did however notice the black bit in the middle can be pushed up, no idea why

Can anyone advise on this or have taken one apart while changing over bumper splitters?

Just a suggestion, try pushing the middle bit in half way, then try prising the full thing off.

I'll give it a try tomorrow mate

Strange sort of fitting that, I'm just thinking it's maybe one of those grommets/plastic plugs that you push in and it can never be pulled out unless you get it from the back with pliers but that means taking the whole ****** front bumper off :(

I've got similar tab type things holding on the plastic radiator cover under the bonnet, push it in half way, then prise the full tab out with a trim tool. To replace, you push the centre bit half way out the other end, put the tab back in then push centre bit until flush again.

Good Luck, hope this helps.

Sounds good mate

I have a trim tool which I never used in my Dashcam install the over day, long metal tool with a fork on the end (2 spikes)

Funny sort of plug mechanism, could they not have just used a plane old screw!

Anyone know what these plug type grommet things are? There has to be specific name to them

I'd advise using a plastic trim tool rather than a metal one, but if your careful you shouldn't scratch the paint using the metal one.

These tabs/plugs are called "PITA to get off " grommets! :salute:

I'm not bothered about the old splitter mate, it's being binned anyway coz it's cracked ;)

It's when I put the new one back in, if I've broken one of the plugs I can buy new ones but needed the name of them

Think I'd just super glue the cracked one and wrap it black, then return the new one.

Good old Audi, they don't make things easy to repair/replace, meaning yay have to visit stealers to get it done.

I'm beginning to consider the same, might contact my local garage and see what they say and cost

Maybe even visit your local body shop, they might be able to do the work a bit cheaper, or better still show you how to get those PITA grommets out.

Keep us updated mate.
