What have you done to your 8V today?

Hi Rob.

What type is your USB phone cable?

And how much were the new tips? Mine are pitted and poor finish - Audi dealer had never cleaned them in the 3 months they had the car from new. I cleaned them up, but still not 100% happy.

Cheers

AL

Attempted to use oem repair cable to attach my *** sub. Struggled at a number of points such as the oem quadlock was being difficult and then finding out I have the incorrect repair cable for the quadlock.

Finally! These arrived from the dealer today.

Background: following advice on this forum I queried with the dealer whether the FL S3 should have Audi Beam (puddle lights) as per the brochure, and as we all now know, they should.

Little bit fiddly to fit. A bit of force was needed to lever them out. But they look superb!

Haha I'm kind of torn, sometimes I think they look smart and a bit different other times I think I they look a tad tacky but at least they do a job, a light from the door handle would be good which comes on when you remote unlock.

I have the S3 projection light and think they all look good. I hate when people comment on "why do you modify your car, are you not to old for that" grrrr!

Single digit cost from AliExpress... Should be able to hide that from the Mrs mate :)
Yeah I found some for a fiver each on eBay, the price wasn't the issue sadly lol!

Fitted my rear Audi beam lights today - ordered from germanlights.com - basically S3 logo projectors. Not seen them in the dark yet, but will take some pictures when done. Not as bring as the Audi rings on the front, so unsure about them at the moment.

@Mark_86 I was considering those, so would be interested to see the pics.

Raywell Design logo puddle lights below as an example.

Stock puddle light at top vs logo light at bottom.

Dropped my car off at Audi to have some work done for a few days and was given to borrow and brand new 17 plate A3 S-Line Saloon in Datona grey with peal essence, which in the sun looks stunning. The car has only 37 miles on the clock!.

Its a bit of a "all show and no go" being only a 1.4. But what ever engine was in there i will be driving it steady seeing that its not mine and its new!

Also had my resonator delete done today sounds amazing and how it should have done from factory

Finally used my VCP to activate Sub + Center speaker outs, as well as Sub setting in MMI sound menu.
Well worth the mod, since it produces decent power to drive a 6,5" JL sub, so I was happy to remove the 8" active box. :musicalnote::musicnotes:

Handed the car in to the detailer, getting a nice polish and ceramic coating. No car until Wednesday evening though.

Since today is a holiday today and too wet for some golfing, took the S3 for a blast outside the city. Sadly not many twisty roads around here, but still put the car through it's paces and finally tried out the launch control, several times actually :grinning:

Launch control is good fun, more fun than it was in my Golf R32 albeit a little less fun in the sound department.

Collected the car from the detailer who did an excellent job, I can see why they are considered the best in Sweden. They also said the car was much better maintained than the average used car so they didn't add the £150 they usually do for extra polishing.

This is what met me when I got there:

Somewhere from there when he moved the car to let a Porsche out or even before I got there he manages to kerb the left front alloy even though there are no kerbs in there, must have it it against a wall or something. When I see him driving it up to the street I just see some damage on it. Nothing major but I have kept my alloys completely spotless so I am quite annoyed at it. Since it is a proper place he says he will pay for fixing it, this will most likely mean sending it off for 10 days though to the best place to do so. Also from what I gather you cannot repair these diamond cut alloys back to 100% which for me is a must. Anyone have experience?

This is the damaged they caused. Think it can get fully restored? What happens if nothing is done about it for a while, would the lacquer around loosen by moisture? Do not really want to be without my car during the summer.

Ouch!!
I self induced a bit of kerb rash, I cleaned up the area with some rubbing alcohol to get rid of the black stuff then used a small file to round off the jagged edges, then used a silver ink pen to cover it. Wasn't as noticeable and it is sealed the raw alloy from the elements.
Yes touch up and seal it otherwise rain and salt may seep in between the lacquer and alloy.

Okay thanks for the reply, I will wait until next week and talk to the guy. Depending on the way he wants to go forward I will see what we do about it. I rather not be without the car this summer though. My OCD wants me to replace the entire alloy :p.

Just got back from picking my car up from Audi after having a new wing put on and sprayed up(awesome job bye the way) and its SOOOOO nice to have the power back. Spent the last 5 days driving a new 17 plate A3 saloon with a 1.4 engine. Plod, plod, plod differently not for me. Now im back in my TDI with a stage 2, aaaagh power!.

Sugar ! - sorry to see this ;o(

I'd push for a new wheel if I were you (also OCD with my wheels). Refurbing these wheels involves removing metal on a purpose made wheel lathe depending on how deep they need to go it can make increase the width of the polished rim and spokes which may look odd compared to the other wheel.
