Hi all,

I know this has been discussed a bit before... but I'm not referring to having it serviced, I'm simply asking about an oil change

The car is set on long life mode but does less than 10k a year... so as far as the car is concerned it is happy for another year or so yet. But I was considering getting an oil change at the 1 year mark in a couple of months, either at Audi or at a specialist nearby called Quattro Tech.

http://quattro-tech.co.uk/

They seem very good and have good reviews etc... even won Revo dealer of the year a couple of years back

Question is with regards to the PCP... is it OK to have the oil change done there?

I only see in the finance contract a bit that says "you must keep the vehicle in good repair and condition, commensurate with its age and mileage"... which I don't believe is being broken at all by having an oil change at a specialist

I am also going to get a price from Audi (I'll probably supply the oil to either person) and see if it is only a small saving I'll just go to Audi.

What do you think??

Does anyone know if Castrol Edge Professional Long Life III 5W-30 is still the 'go-to' stuff? Seems we need 5.7 litres? Any deals going on at the moment @creweaudiparts on oil? - Anyone (@Sandra?) know where @mjr901 has gone.. can't see him here anymore?

Yes. I asked Audi UK when my car was due its second service and this was the reply:

If you are doing less than 10K miles per annum, then you should really get the Audi dealer to set the MMI to fixed schedule.

Thanks guys! :D

Fair point @RichardT ... Just left it as it was delivered... Do you or anyone know by chance what else may be done on a 1st / "1 year" service? I think it is just oil isn't it?

If you ask Tom at parts request for a price on the oil, as members do get a discount. To answer your other question, mike is no longer in the parts request or on the forum.

I've used that oil for my last 3 oil changes and can't fault it. Going to try Millers Nanodrive next though seems popular with guys running a tune.

I'm also going to be doing the same with an a6 I recently bought. While its not due for another 5k miles I'll do the oil myself in between service intervals. We all know oil breaks down over time and well i'd prefer to be replacing oil then wearing the engine.

And the inspection. That's important for your warranty.
Sounds good, thanks!

Got an amazing price!

Audi wanted £255 or £110 if I supply the parts.

Quattro Tech wants £149 or just £69 if I supply the parts (which I can get for £40, so £110 all in).

They have 3 ex-Audi master techs working there, can supply a courtesy vehicle for £12 AND they can update the online service history!

Sounds good to me :D

Dropped Audi UK an email regarding the PCP just so I have an answer direct from them to me regarding it being okay going to a specialist... Although obviously it should be the same response as you guys above have had

All good to go! :)

Thank you for your email regarding servicing your Audi S3 and the vehicle’s warranty.

To maintain the warranty cover for your vehicle, you need to ensure that it is serviced and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines, as any damage to or defect in the vehicle caused by poor or insufficient servicing, will not be remedied under the warranty.

The servicing does not have to be completed at an Audi Authorised Repair Centre. However, you should ensure that you retain evidence that the vehicle has been serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, including invoices showing the Audi part numbers used and an up to date service book stamped by the repairer.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below.

Thank you for contacting Audi UK.

This is what I'll be using next - good choice for stage 1 & 2 tuned cars but recommended change interval is 10,000 miles (less if you track it) :-
