Hi all,

I'm new to Audi forum and this community helped me a lot to secure my next car -> Audi A4 AVANT 2.0 TFSI Quattro MY17 due to arrive Sydney Australia in mid-August.

Currently driving BMW F31 328i Touring, and my contract is about to expire in August so been looking around the four rings, silver arrow and the checkered circle models for the next station wagon offered.

BMW: I have to admit that is purely driving machine but the interior is the most boring out of the three. Therefore, i didn't pursuit for the F31 LCI or even the X5 F15.

Mercedes Benz: the interior design is stunning but the command system is by far the worst to operate and for some strange reason the GLC is actually cheaper than the C class estate. Personally, i'm not a fan of the C class design language

Audi: it is going to be a big change coming from the driving machine to Audi Quattro. The deciding factor is the interior and the technology currently light year ahead of the competition. I have been wanting to get an Audi twice when i had my previous two cars but had to skipped them for unforeseen reasons. B9 is different and i have been attracted from both exterior and interior. Matrix LED headlight, Virtual cockpit and the simple but elegant interior design drew my attention over the BMW F31 LCI. the new MMI system is actually much better than BMW iDrive and call me biased, i just don't like MB command system at all. I guess the most critical decision for my new car is the choice of individual/exclusive colour options. I told the salesman that Audi A4 B9 colours are so conservative compared to the facelifted A3 series, i want ara blue on A4.

So over the weekend, i have signed my contract with Audi during their Open Haus offer and i had a very good negotiation for more than 15% off the RRP (not going to reveal the savings but very good deal) with Audi Exclusive and infamous Nogaro Blue. I had Sepang, Sprint, and Racing Blue also on my list together with Nardo Grey, Arrow Grey and Velvet Purple.

So there you go, below is the build specification:

A4 AVANT 2.0 TFSI Quattro
Colour: Audi Exclusive Nogaro Blue
Trim: Black Fine Nappa Seat
S-Sport Line Package with 19" RS V Spoke Wheels
Assistance Package
Assistance Parking Package
Technik package with panorama sunroof
Adaptive Sport Suspension
Inlays: Oak (strange choice considering about the Nogaro Blue and S-Line, but the oak inlay is stunning)
Black Styling package (i decided to keep the mirror in black rather than Nogaro Blue)
Matrix LED headlight with dynamic front and back indicators
Heated Front Seat
Bang and Olufsen Sound system
Ambient lighting

Build Time: 6 months
Build Date: Week 7 2017

Things want to add:
Extended Leather Upholstery package (or exclusive for Two Tone Seating)
Audi Phone Box Light

Congrats, it should be a great car. I have Manhattan Grey with technik pack and sunroof. I mis the oak trim and Bang and Oulfsen I had on the b8 model, I'm thinking about retro fitting them.

Can someone advise whether Audi exclusive paint, you get that little exclusive batch inside the door alcantara area?

Here is my current F31 328i Touring in Estoril Blue II, after 3.5 years and the paint is still holding up stronger than ever.

I didn't know the exclusive colour selection was available on the B9! It certainly wasn't when I checked recently.

I am in Australia and I assume the Audi exclusive colour is available worldwide. There is a premium on top of the stock metallic/Daytona colours. Personally the one I only like from the stock is scuba blue. The exclusive colour option in current MY17 a4 folder doesn't include Nardo grey though...

I am going to pick up a loan a4 for the weekend and finalise the configuration, now probably add some exclusive interior trim, stay tuned

Going to pick up a free loan a4 Avant or all road for the weekend extended test drive and will finalise the build on Sunday when returning the car. Will keep everyone posted. Hope I can have a side by side shot with my BMW f31. (Might be a bit dirty...)

Took the Audi A4 Allroad in Ibis White for an extended test drive. The destination has a big sand dune, forest, beach, uphill climb and descend and definitely showcase the capability of the car. The car is the stock car with only panorama sunroof option for Australian spec (inc. LED headlights and tailights), there are two things i definitely miss from the BMW.

1. The driving experience is so smooth but it is kind of not as exciting as the F30/31 series, the power is there in Dynamic mode but very subtle compared to my F31 328i MY14 standard Comfort or Sport/Sport+.

2. BMW F30/31 series professional upgraded screen in my 328i is much sharper than the Audi MMI Plus (top of the line version). this is so evidence when looking at the map info. It seems a bit too soft.

3. Reversing camera angle is a too wide angle and the images are really distorted.

Other than that i really enjoy the smooth ride of the car.

The final build spec has been confirmed and signed off this afternoon in Sydney.

Same spec with added the following
1. Audi exclusive extended leather package.
Door handle: jet grey fine nappa with magnolia contrasting stitching
Centre control side panels: night blue fine nappa with magnolia contrasting stitching

Was thinking about two tone seat but over my comfort price at the end, so didn't order it

Just like many others on the forum, my car (ordered in Jan 17, MY17, now will be built in Wk 23 and changed over to MY18).

My dealer is checking whether there is any spec changes and for Australian market (build sheet is apparently the same as 17). I hope some becomes part of the technik package. Unlike UK spec on the S-Line, AU has quite a lot of items are standard.

Still en-route to deliver in August.

Wow, I remember you starting this thread when I ordered!
I guess we shouldn't really be moaning about waiting 3-4 months in the UK
Looking forward to seeing you car

It is a long journey to sail down under... at least the car is now a MY18 spec (no changes to MY17). I'm so looking forward to see it came out not seeing a Nogaro Blue in person to order this special colour (only on the net with different lighting conditions - really hard to tell which blue is correct...

Standard map vs BMW map, have to agree, BMW wins, however google earth map on Audi vs BMW, think you know the answer :)

I've just noticed that my Avant is cruising on the same ship due to arrive in Port Kembla on the 9th of August.
I'm very envious of your colour choice. I have just about the same options ticked, minus black pack and oak inlays.
Cannot wait for delivery.

I was advised by Audi Centre Sydney that it will be delivered about 2 weeks after arriving the port on 9 August, looking at 23 August. Told the dealer not to detail my car and keep all the packaging until i organise the Opticoat and PPF done. :) At least we have the MY18 plates

What colour is your A4 Avant and which dealer? Hope you had a good discount (mine is about 20k off RRP)

Thanks for that info.
I'm getting delivery @ Mosman.
I had mid sept on my contract and booked my opticoat detail around the same time.
Ended up paying 82k.

Thanks mate. Ill check it out.
Curious did you pay much different?
**Manhattan Grey

my final price is 95k including the nogaro exclusive pearl paint $5500+Duty+Luxury Car Tax ($7500-ish), and the exclusive interior leather package ($2.5k-ish).

$82k fully equipped build to order for 2.0 Quattro is reasonable (did you get adaptive sport suspension and fine nappa seat?) i got about 20% off on road cost

Next part is to find a reasonable but good package of comprehensive in Sydney inner west (crazy expensive nowadays)

Hmmm. Yeah I paid 82k drive away. Including sport suspension.
All your options, minus: black pack, exclusive paint, stitching and oak inlay.
Not sure what leather it was, though it wasn't alcantara (just the one level above).

THe WWL has come and gone the West Coast of Australia and is now en-route to Melbourne before my Shogun getting off at Port Kembla on 8 August! T-5

was at my dealer on Saturday organising finance and pre-delivery check list. The dealer principal wants to showcase my car for media release prior to delivery and obviously not a problem for me. Finally my 12 months A4 AVANT custom build project is coming to reality.

My Shogun has finally landed the wizard of Oz in Port Kembla, south of Sydney. 2 more weeks for compliance and dealer preparation. Audi Centre Sydney is going to feature my car for some media photos. Fingers crossed the Nogaro Blue will be a stunning delivery experience.

G'day mate

Congrats for your lovely wagon! I like how the car looks comming with all the wraps and papers.
good choice, nice specs(pretty much fully loaded) and nice colour, and 20K off is a good discount! I also ordered navarra blue avant choosing 5 v spoke wheels. I hope they would come with Pirelli p zero as you do.

Where are you planing to have your car detailed? a bit of struggle wheather to have my car opti-coated or PPF. I think I would follow up your status, caz we all got the avant from same dealer and I do need the detailing info from you. Any recommended detailer ?

Cheers

I assumed you ordered S4 for navarra blue! I was thinking about that in Jan but they were not out and not much discount to offer..

My previous BMW F31 was protected with Opticoat by Protekauto in Paramatta http://protektauto.com.au/ but i will do it in Opticoat South Sydney in Alexandria which is very close to my office. Fixed price for about $845 for opticoat. PPF price will be over $5k for full body, and about $1200 for full front (bonnet, bumper, front fenders and mirrors). It beads after 4 years on my BMW and shine (bucket wash only for my cars, don't trust any $40 cleaners service :) - they swirl your car crazy.

Alternatively, if you go to facebook and join the Audi Club Sydney Followers page, Mitch from Sydney Premium Detailing offers 15% on Gyeon coating service, if you are a member, he's from the Hills region so too far away from me. or go to http://audiclubsydney.com.au/ for more information. over 900 followers and 150 paid members if you are interested.

PPF will give you security against stone chips and minor scratches depending on what areas you cover.

Opticoat or ceramic coating/waxing, just give you the beads for shine and easy washing.

Ya that's S4 avant. and the estimated delivery is around mid Dec to Jan (due to the holiday period around that period)

all in all, 20k off wasnt a bad deal tho! the original price was over 10K erh?

I knew the SPD, but it is at pennut hills, which is way far away from the City, so I wouldnt bother getting there for detailing. I would definitively check the price at opticoat Alexandria which is one of my options. BTW have you had yours detailed?

Is $845 for 2 layers or 4 layers? still considering if I should go for PPF only or opticoat only, not sure if they represent their value with that $

SPD yes Mitch is from pennant hills.

Opticoat is a 2 layer from opticoat south Sydney. You could also try definitive detailing which is a 4 layer spray gun near lane cove.

I would PPF the front at least and apply PPF but all depends on your budget.

Btw did you get good discount on S4 Avant? Mine all up rrp is about 115k on road which is the S4 Avant level.

Would be great if you can visit the Audi club sydney follower Facebook page.

Definitive Detailing is another highly rated detailer I found. I reckon I would go with full body film if the price is ok. I wonder if they can gimme an offer for the package of PPF and opticoat. However doing both costs over 6000, wonder if it is worth doing it. Do you plan to tint your front and front-side windows?(since the panoramic sunroof and rear-side windows got tinted already)

For the discount, I pretty much ended up getting what your original price is, I got pretty much fully loaded as yours+sun blinds; phone box and luggage divider. As an S model, not sure if I got a good deal, caz I planned to compare the quote from AUDI pennut hills, artamon. However, I tried to give S4 a go with Audi centre, then it turned out to be a OK deal for me, which saved my time. Not bad for yours, you basically tick all the boxes on the spec sheet right?

If possible could you send me your detailing update for me please? caz I think you may gimme some clues about what I should do for my avant. Again, your colour is pretty cool!!

Opticoat sydney can do a special package if you go with PPF and opticoat, give u free glass and wheel outer sides coated, I also opted for interior protection coz I know Audi nappa seat outer side always get wrinkled easily.
They also give u a free drying towel and some cleaning products.

Full car PPF is about $5400! Opticoat body 845, interior 320, it will take up to 4 days. They do liaise with solartint in Rosebery for the tinting. I am going to book in this Friday for premium IR 35% darkest legal for all windows except sunroof. $695 if you mention opticoat.

Yes definitive car detailing is 4 layers and slightly more expensive but probably worth about 1200. They also give you a loan car if available. Opticoat will get you a uber within 20km in my memory.

My car almost tick all the options except phone box light luggage divider (I got it on my BMW f31 but not using much) and dynamic steering. I was thinking about the trim in Nogaro blue but very shiny like piano black.hate fingerprint and reflections so opted for oak.

Audi club Sydney is partnered with pennant hills. You got a good deal! I will miss the quad exhaust sound on mine, but planning to get a stage 1 ABT upgrade. To 330HP, closer to S4.
