Yes it is useing coolant daily.
It is the turbo to manifold

Is the exhaust smoking white?

Looks like coolants coming out the exhaust ports into the exhaust (possibly seeping through the turbo / manifold gasket by looking at your pics?
If its coming out the exhaust ports it mean that coolants getting into the cylinder some how.
Cracked head, head gasket ?

Do a compression test to see where the cylinders are at.

Or, you sure it isnt something as simple as a turbo coolant / return feed leaking at the turbo?
Hard to tell by the pics.
Dont know if its the tirbo scorched white with heat (running lean. possibly lean map/ fuelling issues) or if its stained white with dried coolant

Got a missfire on cylinder 2 on startup so a kind friend of mine is going to do a coolant check for exhaust gasses.
I originally thought was the coolant feed on turbo as it smokes from back of the engine on startup when open the bonnet.
Hopefully will have some answers later today

This is sounding afully like mine did when I found the head was cracked.

Compression test will reveal more answers along side the exhaust gas in the coolant check

Ohh, not what I wanted to hear!
What issues did you have when you had a crack cylinder head?

Long story short
Built my hybrid build
Only made 308bhp at Bills
Got home
Compression test and found low compression.
Next few days started smoking really bad.
Then to top it off the cam chain adjuster failed.

Took it off the road to fit a new head with supertech exhaust valves.

Rebuilt, back to see Bill at Badger5, BOOM 342bhp as engine was healthy.

Search " decision to make advice needed" theres a whole thread documenting my pain lol

I was foolish and paid no attention to the head when the rods went in.
Didn't notice the head was cracked in multiple places

Dropped the turbo off the manifold this morning to check inside the turbo and it's as white as can be in there!

It may just be the head gasket, prepare for the worst but hope for the best, keep my fingers crossed for you. It does prove that the turbo to manifold was leaking though. What are the chances of finding that?

Yes fingers are crossed!
Engine out job I think so can clean it all up and check pipes etc!
The car still drives ok, does use water though but if driven smoothly is fine.
Will have start a list for new parts

I wouldn't know the difference to be honest

That's a thing, apparently it is by a previous owner but no receipt to prove when or where.
It isn't standard though, comes obvious when driving

Soo hard to tell from photos.

Dont wat you barking up the wrong tree.

If its a pikey map with no fuel changed and shes running lean, the high temps could scorch like this.

You need the heavyweights @badger5 Tuffty in on this

Yes I see what your saying, with the current issues tho with the car it seems more to me could be water.
Should be getting it compression tested later so that will give some answers.
Appreciate your help

My money's on coolant, if it was getting that hot the turbo would've given up by now and the fact that you are using water. You're only experiencing misfire on cylinder two, if it was running lean you would have multiple misfires across all cylinders. Driven gently it's okay you say, that suggests head gasket to me, time will tell.

Coolant leaking into the cylinders cause the condensation, then blows in the exhaust gaskets to allow them to seep out onto the external?

Compression down on mainly cylinder 2 and slightly on 3.
Looking down the bore cylinder 2 is wet where as others are dry.
I had disconnect the injectors before the test

I assume the cracks would be visible to the eye?
Would be getting the head skimmed so think it would be worth getting it pressure tested aswell?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ohh so very visible! What caused them to crack?

heat - bam/amk cars seem to suffer this more than more from what I've seen. My theory is these cars also have stupid factory run it 0.95 lambda only on full load, and rely on egt protection kicking in to save the motor... Except this only kicks in at 920'C where its already way way too late. That and some crap maps which dont enrich fueling over stock at all, will all make it all too hot and things like this happen.

no, byproduct of combustion is water vapour.. you see your exhaust on sold starts in the winter right?

So tomorrow it starts!
Head gasket kit
Cam belt kit
Clutch kit
All to be done in next few days!
Engine is comeing out, can have a good look in what else needs attention aswell!
Been thinking to get a oil pick up replaced aswel.

Couple of things on my mind though,
Head bolts, I'm not sure if they come in the kit as it's not here till tomorrow afternoon. Do they need replacing? Iv only ever done head gasket on a Mg with stretch bolts.
Any tips on any would be great :)

Waiting anxiously for photos of the head

Should be off this evening! Fingers crossed it's not cracked!

Any suggestions how to get the diff dis connected ?

Engine out head is off and stripped down.
There's no cracks on the head but one on the exhaust manifold!
Productive day today, same again tomorrow

Where are you now with this, did you find where the head gasket was leaking?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Engine all back together and back in the bay, just wireing to finish up and front putting back on.
Few other broken parts replaced on the way through this!
Piston on cylinder 2 was noticeably rusty compared to the other ones
