Hey Guys,
First post here, wishing it was a more positive one but here goes!
I have a 2001 S6 Avant that's been in the garage for about a year now, initially retired with a leaky steering rack but it's grown arms and legs to what is now a overhaul of all the running gear.
Just as the light at the end of the tunnel was starting to show, my worst nightmare became a reality.
I was putting together the rear suspension arms with new bushes and when I started torquing the inner bushes. They didn't readily tighten and were drawing together the two mounts on the subframe rather than torquing up. Before I clocked this, and what with the subframe being aluminium, the next thing was one of the mounts cracked!
After I finished swearing and beating myself up, I examined the damage - See attached photo.
I suspect my worst fear which is that basically I now need to replace the rear subframe and start again, but I'm holding out a small amount of hope that somebody has a miracle fix suggestion...?
Any thoughts and ideas a most welcome and appreciated!
Yours optimistically,
Chris
