What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

i thought lemforder made the part anyway carl and it is rebadged for audi etc,

That's what I thought Rob......and at half the price of the OEM one just for the sake of the metal gearbox mount that can be reused.

Carl was it knackered or did you just swap it out because it was old

Yes pal it had gone soft, you could feel it whilst driving even whilst on the smoothest of roads.

What could you feel mate, it rocking or knocking/clunking ? i got a little clunk i'm trying to find, sounds like a mount or something has is loose, it sounds like its coming from around under the centre console? Ill ave a proper look at the week end

Would this mount result in excess engine movement while revving etc?

Where's it from Carl and how hard is it to fit?

I had it know once Tony....well more of a bang, I was in a low gear on boost and had to slam on and that's when I first felt it. I also had bouncing sometimes when taking off as if it was the clutch. But I mainly felt it when driving normally....you could feel like the gearbox was floating is the best way to describe it, as you went over the slight ups and down in the roads you could feel them more. *** it's really hard to explain.....it wasn't like the movement with a dead snub mount where you could physically feel the movement....it was more sloppy lol.

It was easy enough to fit Dani just a pain trying to manoeuvre it out without dropping the rear subframe of the box.

And no Dani if you're feeling movement whilst revving this will be the engine mount as these take the sideways movement whilst the snub and rear mount take the rocking backwards and forwards motion of the engine.

All I c an say is that before I ordered a new one I had my mate sit in the car with his foot on the brakes and let the clutch out in both 1st and reverse and see how much movement there was....there was at least an inch or more in both directions.

It's 12 years from date of registration for warranty for paint Corrosion that what my dealer told me

Does this apply to anywhere on the car as I have slight rust bubbles coming through on the roof seals I was going to get them done privately but if Audi will sort them out I might be able to save myself some money

It's the same part number that came off mine....

You can always look at his alternatives but it seems he only has three variants when you look at his part numbers.

Cheapest I found for Lemforder.

Well I received a nice parcel earlier today from @mjr901 in a competition he had on FB. CLICKY

Many thanks Mike and keep up the good work

It's called Lifeshine and it comes with a PDI box that contains a Lifetime Warranty Carbon Shield. Looks like I'll have to get my paint corrected even more now and sooner rather than later!

looks like someones B7 is going to get a right old pampering now......bet that wasn't cheap carl..worth it though, had the same kit a few years back with our VW polo, the dealer included it with the purchase and i'm still using it now, well some of it as a lot has run out.

I don't normally like AG but the Carbon Shield should be nice......don't get me wrong I'll still use 99% of it!

I've always liked Auto Glym super resin but the white residue is no fun on a black car.

I would ring you local Audi dealership and book an assessment with the warranty administrator. They will take some photos and forward them onto Germany for the decision.

I'm waiting to hear back on mine at the moment for rust around the brake light that is nestled in with the tailgate spoiler.

I got my offer in writing luckily, but I suspect only because they were not expecting on having to do any work, I've got news for them on Tuesday though...I am going to throw a right old wobbly at them aswell.....as they rekon my old bus was problem free...not.

well i only saw the one on my wheel arch yesterday carl when washing it , I polished the old bus the week before and didn't see it , and washed it last Friday and didn't see it either , I can only assume the corrosion is getting worse under the skin now hence the sudden visible appearance on the surface..either way very disappointed that's it happening to be honest..

Funny thing is mines a year younger than yours also......touch wood my arches are ok.

Not sure if i'm tempting fate here, but mines an early 2006 and touch wood it seems fine at the moment.....

All the arches will end up doing it at some point. Its the wheel arch liner that rubs on the inside and allows moisture in from behind. So its just a matter of time I think :-(
