02j gearbox

Hello

Does anyone know if there are variations within the 02j gearboxes?

I'm looking for a replacement and I have found an abundance with the same 3 digigits on the part numbers and different endings.
Also I was curious if a tdi gearbox with work on a petrol?

My car is a 8l 2000 fwd 1.8t with an Agu engine.

Yours is probably an ecw or an ebd. Most common one around is an enj which will be absolutely fine for you.

Do not under any circumstances fit a tdi gearbox in a petrol. It will work, but they're ****** awful.

All the above codes are ratio codes for 02j boxes, so still need an 02j, just with one of those ratio codes.

In an attempt to not sound stupid, how do I find my out what ratio I need code I need...?

It's written on it mate.

Find the part number that begins with 02j. The last 3 letters are the ratio code
