I have a Audi A3 S line 64 reg

Everything seems to be working fine ..
But the Bi xenon headlights don't seem to respond to the coming home lights function in MMI and everytime I start the car I get "Automatic Headlights: system faliure"
Also I get message about my key being low battery . But it seems to work fine no issues .. doesn't my car charg the key anwya when's it's in ignition ?? I have normal Audi key not advanced.

Please see pics of what errors I'm seeing. Let me know if you guys seen this and advice pls.

No idea on the errors sorry

But the car doesn't charge the key, it's just a CR2032 battery (likely), they are not rechargeable unfortunately

Good thing is that it should just be a couple of quid from Tesco :)

Nope it won't charge, only new upmarket cars with keyless charge I thought anyway?

Probably a coding issue or if you've just bought it, more likely the sensor for the automatic lights isn't working? Book it into Audi!

EDIT: Just realised you will be outside warranty, that's unlucky. Hopefully somebody on here can help you.

Why would I be outside warranty mate?

The car was registered on 1st September 2014 and I swear it's 3 years Audi Warranty ? The cars only done 13k miles

In that case should be under warranty until Sept this year so get it booked in mate.

Will see what's up on Tuesday now ..

A 2007 Ford transit will charge its key in the ignition, a 2014 A3 will not. Crack the key open and change it, and the fault will disappear.

The auto headlights rely on a light sensor on the windscreen, if it's dirty, obscured, covered in a big sticker or otherwise rendered defective, it'll stop the auto headlights working. Have you had your windscreen replaced at all?

You know the rear winscreen wiper washing system .. how does it work .. when I push the stalk I hear that electrical sound but look at the rear window and nothing getting splashed on it just the wiper going off.. my last car Astra the fluid comes from the top from a hole ..

The pipe has probably come off if you can hear the motor running, bit of an awkward job depending on where it's come off.

Washer fluid flows from the wiper arm itself. If you've got nothing coming out you have a leak or a blockage, or a defective pump. Wasn't your car accident damaged at one point? That adds significantly to the number of potential causes...

Apologies, I had my years mixed up (I think it's the concept of a 12 hour night shift tonight haha).

They should honour the warranty, it wouldn't be a check Audi would do prior to warranty work.

Did you see the damage in person or on a photo? It's possible the washer bottle was damaged or an attached component, that is on the offside.

See image of damage

Let's hope it isn't leaking anywhere that it runs internally and it's pumping out into the cabin. It might be worth trying to check the fluid level while operating the rear washer, at least that would differentiate between a leak and a blockage.

Wow, that's a hell of a clout.. I expected one of those silly panel scrapes that write cars off because the skin cost was 5x the labour to fit it haha.

I'd say that's what's happened to your rear jet pipe no doubt, it hasn't been reconnected sometime throughout repair.

I tell you what, they did a great job of repairing it. How did you come across this car to see it damaged too?

Not read the thread but:
  • Key battery: pop the cover off and swap the battery for a new one = job done.
  • Automatic Head Light Error = If your head lights are not coming on automatically then you could have a Rain Light and Humidity Sensor issue. Sensor is located within the base of the rear view mirror mount, where it meets the windscreen. If the lights are working then this could be related to the auto levelling system. As the vehicle has been in a smash I am willing to bet that one of the levelling sensors is busted. They are located around the suspension, front and rear.

£17k car market value
Took a risk and bidded on salvage auction .

Won for £7k

After all works and parts totalling around £9k

Just these issues I'm seeing now as I did take a risk ,
headlight system , rear washer , car drives really well though is very quick compared to my last car

That was an absolute steal, nice one! It is a great car for the money and in the grand scheme of things, these are only niggles.

The car looks fine to me.

Nice! Just out of interest you paid £7k + £9k? Or £7k + £2k making the £9k?

£9k ish total
