Not long before.....

If the keys were wrapped in tin foil this probably would not have happened; however they would likely have forced entry to get the keys.

That's what a proper key and a Rottweiler is for

Fixed for you there Tristan ;)

A couple of points spring immediately to mind;

1/ owners and manufacturers alike continually harp on about how secure the systems are despite hundreds of keyless cars disappearing, seemingly without any of the telltale noise, damage, or raised suspicion that accompanies the various levels of lock picking sophistication required to gain entry to a keyed car and start it. How many keyless hack type thefts have to take place before the manufacturers finally admit that it's a dumb idea?
2/ Seriously, who steals a C220 "to order"?

The RFID blocking wallets are also a good idea if you have contactless bank cards.

Keyless entry really is looking to become a solution looking that was for a problem isn't it. Really makes you wonder what was so bad about having a key?

It says in the artical that merc drivers can "turn off the signal for keykess entry by pressing a button twice". Anything like this on Audis keyless system?
Or is it really a case of a lead box!?

Quite worried about the keyless start, it's why I would never opt to have it.

But with the rumour that MY18 cars will have it? That will really put a downer on any new car. Cool gadget but too risky.

I originally opted in for it for about £300, but despecced it after reading about all the easy thefts.
Saved myself £300 and a car!

I doesn't seem to matter whether it is keyless or key as this low life has just been in the courts.

NI News said:
A 29-year-old Lithuanian man has appeared in court over the theft of a number of high-value vehicles.
The vehicles, worth an estimated £500,000, were taken from locations across Northern Ireland.
The thefts happened between May 2016 and February 2017.
The charges relate to the theft of a Range Rover, a Mercedes, an Audi Q7 Jeep and 26 Audi cars.
A police officer told the court that technology had been used to clone keys which were then used in the thefts

That's a lot of stolen Audi's in Northern Ireland, for that time period. Kinda thought I would have heard about that before now.
