As per title is the only way to replace the bulbs by removing the bumper then headlight?

Would be totally ridiculous if that is the case.

I have Xenons so don't expect to have to replace them.

Yes I believe so - think the 8P was the same.

Oh noticed my light was flickering so maybe just a connection but space looks very tight drivers side

If your car is still under warranty then replacing the headlight bulbs is covered by that warranty.

I managed to change mine without taking the bumper off, although I have Hid, I still managed to squeeze my size 9 hand in and get the job done, not without a few scores on my hands but I was determined

I've changed the H7 bulbs (normal dipped beam) on my A3 without having to remove the bumper. There was, however, much swearing and scratching of knuckles and it took about half an hour.

I thought you had to be able to safely change a bulb at the side of the road.

They make you carry spares in France. What's the point if you need to remove the bumper?

One of the most logical, sensible and yet still funny comments I've read :glee:

It isn't funny though. How have they got away with it? Driving at night with a failed headlight is dangerous. It should be as straightforward to fix as putting on the spare wheel.

The Volvo S40 is the best, pull a peg out of the skuttle panel and the light falls out into your hands.

Sadly, car manufacturers/dealerships wouldn't be able to charge £80+ to change a bulb if they made it that simple.
