how to remove grill?

I want to plastidip my chrome surround on the grill. Is there an easier way of doing it or do i have to remove the grill completely? I've done it before on my old 8p A3 but this grill is way more intricate.

Hi Nigel,
I was gonna take my bumper off then the grill off but just masked the area around it well and sprayed easier IMO

i had a mare trying to take my grill off at the weekend. if you get it off, i would hate to think of the state of the plastidip by the time you have clipped it back in. really hard work wouldnt want to wish that on my worst enemy lol

post some pics up when you have done it, i did play around with plastidip a few years ago and i didnt find it as magic as i had read.
 
Gloss black vinyl wrap wears better than plasti-dip and also matches the slats on grill better.

Quite easy to work with too.

Appreciate not a very helpful reply, but maybes worth considering further down the line?

Well after a lot of swearing, newspaper and masking tape i got the job done. Not quite the finish i wanted as some areas aren't a good finish because i messed up/rushed the masking tape job. i will probably redo again when the weather is good. It also wasn't plastidip that i used, i used some other cheap stuff off eBay.

Looks good mate, deffo better than chrome. Red and black is a good mix

I thought you didn't really need to mask with plastidip as it just peels off the surfaces you don't want it on?
 
I may well be thinking of something else though :p

looks good, also agree black and red looks very good. I also plan on doing the same thing after my failure with the grill i think im going to plastidip it and see how i go.

I just searched "A3 8V interior bulbs" on eBay and a list came up. I paid £13.25 for mine it was a 7 bulb kit for the front dome light, rear dome light, vanity mirror lights, glovebox and boot light.
