Okay so on Saturday I fitted the Autotech internals with two of my mechanically minded friends as well as a new cam follower. The car now barely has any power and when i go over 2300 rpm the car judders and power comes in and goes in a juddering motion, the idle seems a tiny bit lower than normal and my slight misfire seems to have escalated a little. The car has not been remapped yet, also have the itg induction kit on and i also have the emissions control light on the dashboard. This was straight after fitting the internals all of this has occurred.

The car also takes a few seconds to turn over now to, over 2k rpm the air filter doesn't make much noise it's like it momentarily sucks in some air and stops and starts and stops again intermittently.

Is this just due to over fueling or something or do you think my whole pump needs a rebuild again?

I understand that i will need to get it scanned for fault codes, this will be happening tomorrow.

Not only does it need scanning, but fuel pressure, air/fuel mixture also needs to be logged to check for fueling issues. Either way, I'd be getting it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Were the internals new and did you make sure to keep things very clean? Last thing you want is crap getting into and clogging the fuel system.

Everything was kept very clean, I used Brake cleaner to thoroughly clean every part as well as a rag to wipe gunk off the inside. Yes the Internals are brand new, it's booked in for a stage 2+ remap with rick at unicorn on Friday afternoon so i wanted to get this all sorted before hand! it's abit of a nightmare to be honest.

Following. Am due to do this also. I was unsure if i could fit this and still drive... i thought it may need mapping straight away

I wouldn't be driving it.... You could end up doing serious damage. You should be able to fit the HPFP to a stock car without any detrimental effect. I'd probably take it apart again and check everything one more time.

Quick update, it's in the garage today. Got it scanned and it's showing low fuel pressure. The car went into limp mode which is why it was driving like ****, he deleted it and removed limp mode and it runs fine. He is now just finding out why the light keeps coming back on and has disassembled the fuel pump. Will update later.

Update: He think's that it is a sensor as the fuel pump is built fine, no cracks on the plastics or anything. Sensor won't arrive until next week sadly. Ill keep you all posted.

The plastic housing on the sensor can crack, and give rise to the sort of faults you're describing.

Happened to mine a while back.

Ill get him to double check, the sensor doesn't arrive until tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion.

Another update, the sensor did not fix the problem and that mechanic has given up as he is unable to diagnose the problem. I am taking it elsewhere today, may try a new fuel pump and cut my losses.

@Brany - where are you located? I have an APR HPFP sitting in the box if you're near West London

Im in the North West myself, it's in the garage now so ill have to wait and see what they say at this one. Having an absolute nightmare with it though, getting costly!

If the guy who has given up was the same guy who said your pump build was OK, I would be looking back at the pump.
In your original post you said all problems have occurred since the new pump internals.
Can you fit the original parts back in to compare?

Thanks for your response, he rebuilt it with the stock internals back in as well and it's still showing low fuel pressure and going into limp mode. The new garage im at now is saying they're going to inspect the fuel pump and ill probably have to buy a new one.

I have a brand new pump that came with my new engine, or my original pump that was taken off at 47k miles. PM me if you want either.

The garage has ordered it for me, it's a friend of a friend so shouldn't be too overpriced. Got him to change my fuel filter as well while it's there as im unsure when it was last changed.

UPDATE: Car is repaired, brand new fuel pump and fuel filter £310 it set me back. Lesson learnt getting a professional to sort my car out now.

Is this with uprated internals already or will you still need to do that?

This is with standard internals back in, they won't rebuild it with them in as they wont take liability if it breaks. Taking it to get fitted professionally elsewhere now. Will driving a stage 2+ ready car without a remap damage my vehicle at all?

Who is mapping it?

Rtech can fit the hpfp/map on the day

I'd like to get it done by Rick at Unicorn, he's the closest guy who's got awesome reviews near me.

I spoke to rick about fuel pump. Its fine to drive to him for mapping but as for day to day for a few weeks am not sure. Its something i wanted to know and its something am holding off for now

It'll be well worth the trip mate.

Nick at R-Tech also advised to drive as little as possible with an unmapped HPFP and to certinaly not give it any beans.
