Considering an S3. Is this a good deal?

PCP for an S3 saloon, Floret Silver, tech pack advanced, folding mirrors, rear parking sensors based on 12,00 miles over 4 years is £310/month with a £7000 deposit and final payment of around £15000

Wow that is a good price, which dealer was that?

Sounds good. Was that a high spec or basic?

White with S-Tronic box and Privacy Glass that was all I added.

I suppose you could add more options and get a better discount.

Think I'm going to call into my local dealer to see what they can offer.

Sounds good. Thank you for that.

I know it's brand new to you now but do you plan on keeping the car for the full term?

Will keep it at least 3 years if not the full 4, have a look on carwow and orangewheels to see what sort of discounts are available then go to the dealer with those in mind.

Fair enough. Will do cheers :salute:

Not heard of orangewheels, so have just been on and spec'd an S3 Black Edition, came out as £36.2k which didn't seem to bad.

Drivethedeal is probably the best in terms of discounts. If there are better discounts around, let me know.

I used carwow and then took that figure to my local dealer for just over £3k discount. I knew I could get it for less but the convenience bit sealed it for me.

Used S3's are silly money, but this does help with the pcp value. Most of the time it's not much different a month between a new S3 and a A3 sportline due to the residual value.

Treat yourself and get a new one, you'll be ruined for ever as you won't want to go back to used...! :)

Haha I am so tempted! The used S3s do seem a bit steep in comparison now. Have to have a word with my local dealer

I'll be doing the same, see what deal I can get on carwow first and then take it to my local dealer.

A high spec used S3 really is a no brainer compared to new high spec car, the thing with loading a new car up.....your in negative equity for 3 years easy..... Same can't be said with a used car, for example l have a 2 year old S3 it's taken its biggest chunk of deprecation now... Between now and next year it won't change much in value if in the same condition.....for talk sake someone buys it off me keeps it for a year..... Sells it on...on for not a lot less the he bought from me for,New cars will BIG TIME.... the thing with a used car you'll be able to change it quicker than a new yin.best buy a used car via bank loan

The S3 is in Whatcar magazines top ten best least depreciating car list, it holds its value very well over its first 3 years if you don't trade it into Audi that is lol

The problem with used S3 prices is the price variance of them, some are way overpriced.

You can get an S-tronic facelift S3 Sportback 66 plate in Mythos Black for £28.5k, only option is privacy glass - https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar...hp-all-wheel-drive-black-1_GBR0073234469.htm#

But then this one in Navarra blue is £32k, the only options are rear parking sensors and auto-dimming rear-view mirror - https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar...0bhp-all-wheel-drive-blue-1_GBR001896136.htm#

There's even a pre-facelift S3 Sportback 16 plate for £31k and it pretty much has no options - https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar...bhp-all-wheel-drive-grey-1_GBR0013491070.htm#

To me, the base spec facelift S3 for £28.5k is a good price and worth considering if you don't want any options. The only options I'm looking for is B&O and Tech Pack Advanced, so I was hoping that the extra £1,900 of options meant I could get a used one for around £30k. After drivethedeal discounts, the spec I'm looking for new would be around £32.5k, so saving £2.5k to get a 6 month old one with 6k miles seems reasonable.

@jassyo06 good points, we all jumped in with the "you can buy a new car for that money" but forgot the obvious in that the second hand car price is as negotiable as a new car...swings and roundabouts

That Mythos black one was the one I nearly put a deposit on and was being offered to me on a used PCP at 5.9% APR...!

Unfortunately it's now sold and not to me, but probably got sold to a less fussy customer at 10.9% APR!

It was an ex demo car, so maybe there is a reason it's cheaper than the others!!

Also remember there is still a massive price difference between northern and southern dealers. Top cheaper one is Sheffield and the other two are Cambridge and Epsom...

@jassyo06 - Agreed, in part. :)

If Audi weren't trying to fleece people on used S3's I would agree that a second had is the way to go. But when you look at how much a new car is per month compared to a used car per month then a new is a no brainer.

As I mentioned the car I've ordered is costing me around £34,500. When I buy it and drive it off the forecourt if I turned around and asked what they would give me for it, it would possibly be valued at 27-28k. So a £7.5k depreciation (might be better, might be worse but it will do for example's sake). If the OP was to buy the one he was offered at 26k drove it off the forecourt and came back in for a quote, they'd probably offer 19-20k at best, so a 6-7k depreciation. After 3 years I agree mine will have lost a lot more comparatively, but at least I would feel better that the depreciation is due to it being a new car that I've had the pleasure of it rather than a 7 thousand pound profit in a dealers pocket.

I feel the GFV on new cars is optimistic so I don't expect there to be much equity in it at all. So the GFV is realistically what the dealers will pay for the car when it came in despite what they claim. My old S3 was worth £22k to the dealer I bought it from but I got £25k from an independent. I love my Audi but I don't like the dealers sometimes.

Example;
S3 Sportback 2.0 TFSI quattro 310 PS S tronic
Same price as mine but mine is new.

They also have a 3 year old one for £24,500 and this has a CAP value of £19 so a clear 5K profit.

This was my initial thinking. Would of already taken the biggest hit of depreciation if I bought used.

I also use the CAP value when checking prices of used S3's, the only thing is it doesn't take options in consideration but you have the base price to add it on to. For example that 3 year old one selling for £24,500 with CAP value of £19k, might have £5k worth of options. Its up to you what you think the options are worth, some Audi dealers value them more than others.

Yeah I also enquired on it last week and got a video for it but really wanted the 2 options. I'll take into account the difference between north and south now. I did manage to get Cambridge to bring the price down to £30,500 when I showed them the Sheffield car but it doesn't have the options I'm looking for, I do think I could get a car with the options I want for around £30k. The 12 week wait for a new car has put me off it.

There's obviously a huge market for used/nearly new cars....ideally buying a used car,you would have say £10k of savings and then borrow say £14k from a bank.... And buy that £24k S3= best way to buy a premium used car ,Audi's used Apr is very high but you never pay the sticker price, new car yeah....nice to have fire down a £1000 deposit on a £35k car and pay it over £500 plus a month for ay least 40 months just to have the latest model, but have a look at you're annual statement from Audi...... and you begin to feel a bit sick

Sorry to say I've not found a dealer yet that will give you more for your car because it has options on it. As usual only spec options you really need/want as you'll never get any of it back on trade in. Unfortunately all the dealers use CAP to value cars so you would get 19K whether it has £5 or £5,000 of options on it. Obviously, selling private is a different ball game all together.

The thing that annoys me about that is that it will affect the price they sell it for by quite a bit potentially! I understand it's all business and ultimately I didn't spec my options to get more money at the end but I do feel it should have some baring, certain options do if you're car is written off.

Absolutely agree with all that. You can tell Audi don't care about options by the fact the GFV doesn't change no matter what option you add. BMW appears to be different however as the GFV is affected by certain options.

I was talking about buying a used car, not selling. I use CAP prices to judge used car prices, then you can just add what you value the options at to the CAP price and see if its worth it for you. That 66 plate mythos black S3 is priced at £28,500 and its CAP value is £29k, so you could potentially buy it then trade it in for more.

I sell finance. Go to your bank to get a loan. Shop around and buy an ex demo from Audi dealership. I have done this my past 2 cars. You will take a massive hit on depreciation if you buy new (it doesn't matter how you sugar coat it with balloon payments at the end / low deposits!)

Right so today I went into Bristol Audi (absolutely sh*te service) to get a price on a new FL S3 saloon s tronic in Navarra Blue BE with pano roof, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, folding mirrors and 19" wheels.

£6600 (£600 contribution) and £446.12 monthly and £16,601 at the end. Over 48 months with 15k annual mileage.

Is this a good price? As I thought others said it was near £300 a month for there's? Am I missing something?

Also on the way home popped into Mercedes to look at the CLA45 AMG again. Have to say the service was 1000x better and price on that wasn't much more than a used s3 of the same age.

Still, I think I'd rather go for the S3 but won't be buying it from Bristol after their service.

What is your exact deposit James £6000? Try some car comparison sites mate, if l get news tomorrow that l can get the colour l want, l am not going to accept anything less than a 12% discount given the high spec.

Yeah £6000 but can do up to £10k but don't really want to go that high.
Fair enough. I did try car wow but wasn't the exact spec I got today. Came out around £38k for the cheapest. Tetbury Audi.
What sort of monthly payments are you hoping to get?

Until l actually get the exact price of the car l don't know but it will be roughly in the low £400s like my existing car, hopefully find out tomorrow or Wednesday, buying a new Audi S3 can be hard work

Looks like people have been listening to your advice. I was after 2 ex-demo cars this weekend and both got sold a few hours before I was booked in to see them.

@james.BB don't buy the second hand S3

in comparison for my on order car

PCP for an S3 saloon, Floret Silver, tech pack advanced, folding mirrors, rear parking sensors based on 12,00 miles over 4 years is £310/month with a £7000 deposit and final patment of around £15000
Did you have any other options? Like SS seats or hold assist?

*Opinions wanted*

So pretty much decided I'm ordering a brand new s3 saloon.
Going for tech pack advanced/s tronic/hold assist/folding mirrors/rear parking sensors/super sport seats/pano roof/19" wheels.

Dilemma now is...colour!!
Going for either Daytona grey(common) or Navarra blue. Most likely Navarra.
Now...do I go for black edition or standard chrome?
Black edition is more stealthy and understated but almost looks too much like a normal A3. Can't decide :scared2:

Navarra BE looks special. I initally wanted a black or grey car but they are very common and a slighlty unusal colour with the BE really stands out.

That was my thinking really. I do love the greys just see quite a few about.
Haven't seen a navarra blue black edition either especially with the spec I want.
