Hi,

It's a sunny day today, but in bright sunlight I have trouble seeing what gear (P, R, N, D/S) I've selected on the S tronic gear box.

Usually the gear that is selected glows in white, but on sunny days it's hard to see.

Anyone else have the same issue? Ideally the glow should be a brighter!

Not a problem in red on the PFL...
Sorry, not helpful.

Just count the notches or as said, look at the dash :grinning:

Nope, no issue at all because it's often a mental thing without looking for knowing what gear you are in. If in any doubt, we have the beauty of a dash display :p

Shouldn't be too difficult to work it out;

If you've just got in and started it you're in park (P)
If you're moving backwards it's in reverse (R)
If it makes lots of noise but doesn't move you're in neutral (N)
If it moves forward when you press the pedal on the right you're in drive (D)
If you can't get the keys out it's because you're not back in park (P)

Hope that helps. :)

Sorry it's late and I was bored.

I have a FL A3 and I must admin I much preferred the Red position indicator. Not so much for the position when driving as that's in the DIS but for an easy indication if I was in N or R or D. I wonder if it would be possible to change the gear lever surround to the PFL version?

Looking at the ElsaWin workshop manual it seems as though this would be a straight-forward operation. Unclip the leather trim around the selector lever. Release the clip holding the display unit in place and detach the wiring connection. Replacing a new one should be the reverse.

When I next call in to my dealers I will check with the master technician to see if he thinks it's OK to do.
