I have an 2014 Audi A3 that needs
Recovering but there is one big issue.

The driver side door is jammed as it is heavily dented inwards (salvage car)

The door will not open. The lever for bonnet can only be fully pulled once the door is open . So i am stuck with a car that has flat battery and most probably parking brake engaged (electronic) that i need to roll on recovery truck but obviously can't .

Any other way of accessing the bonnet ?
Or any tips?

Pls help

Not sure of the make up but I had an issue last night with sister in laws mini

I took the cable off the handle, got a set of vice grips, clamped down and pulled - if your cable isnt broken this should work, in my case, the mini won and I didnt get the bonnet open :(

Dont know if that picture posted or not due to it being from ebay and its blocked in work but you can see circle with a slot in the middle of the handle, I can only assume thats where the cable inserts so i would try get the cable out of there and apply the vice grips

this is what I am struggling to pull. because the door card is in the way. No can't see a pic just says
Lever

Grind or cut along the dotted line then it should work without the door getting in the way .....

hm....... I don't want to damage anything

Trickle charger connected via the cigarette socket has worked in the past.

Basically the cigarette lighter has a positive & negative connection (like the battery) which is easily accessible so you're using that to get enough power into the system to switch the ignition on & disengage the parking brake without damaging anything (obviously a trickle charger is best as you don't want to fry the electrics!).

can you point me to what exactly i need

I mean I can try cutting the lever halfway enough for it to be able to pull all the way. if not then I see if I can a find a product that will do exactly what I need with the ciggaratte 12v socket

All you need is a battery charger of some sort, BUT obviously only operated on its lowest possible setting so you don't fry the wiring behind the dash which obviously isn't meant to take to take the levels of charge that you can generate connecting straight to the battery terminals.

Just cut the handle as mentioned above, it's only a £12 odd part.

But, if the car is heavily damaged anyway.. what is a £10 lever? They would be so commonly replaced and readily available at Audi because they don't feel exactly strong and I am sure they snap.

For the sake of a lever, with the difference being the car moving or not? I would take the lever.

I think if there were a way to get under the bonnet without pulling that lever, it would be the height of irresponsibility for someone to post it here in open forum for auto-theft posterity.

The lever is designed so that the door must be open in order to open the bonnet. This is done for two reasons, first, because it stops inept half-wits from popping the bonnet while driving, and secondly, so that even if a thief breaks the window, he still can't open the door (because it's deadlocked), and therefore cannot pop the bonnet to bypass all the security functions at the ECU.

Id cut the handle.
