I think audi have a dilemma. Perhaps they want to keep it exclusive but their pricing plus Brexit plus new taxation and their business model of greed and charging for every extra means that the rs3 price could be astronomical. If it's 40k ish most would it on their list. If it's 45k few people will buy it over that I think they'll struggle to sell them. if they have to put the price then why don't audi load it with a few options like the virtual cockpit, styling options like black or aluminum at no cost. B and o I think is so about time.

How much is an a45 amg though? Or an m2? They are both around the 45k mark? And you could argue the a45 is just an s3 with a remap ha!

I rread it in the latest edition of Autoexpress and there eeview on it says it comes as standered.

I can't believe Audi, of all manufacturers, would make the virtual cockpit standard for the RS3. Even the more expensive S5 charges for it.

Sounds like we are assuming that the UK is like 80% of Audi's market. Will they only sell the RS3 here?
These new rules are UK only and we aren't the centre of the their world

Clearly we are talking about UK pricing here. And I don't see anyone assuming that the UK is the centre of the world.

I don't assume anyone's assuming, just making a point. Maybe they wont sell well here with the extra VED tax and God knows what Brexit will bring.
I also don't think Audi will need to factor that into their UK pricing. The factory will churn them out regardless.

When will pricing actually be announced? Never going to be under 45k. New A45 out in 2019, that will be more than the current 40,600

'Audi rs3 pricing ?'

Unfortunately, not cheap enough for me ...:sadlike:

£46k sportback and £47,500 saloon.
For virtual cockpit to be standard they would also have to add the technology package £1395,virtual cockpit as you all should know is not a stand alone option,it might be standard giving the high basic price but doubt it,on the road prices are all relevant to residuals and the all important pcp figures, you either can afford it or not simple as.

Is that reliable info or a guesstimate Jassy?

I'm hoping it will be half that much of a price increase.
Not that I can't afford it, but Audi will really be taking us for a ride if we pay that (we know we will).
If it's that much, maybe I will have to drop my exclusive colour to at least keep it below 55k :'(

That's mad that when you can order a new m3 for instance for now much more with more toys.

I know diff cars in many ways but still

I'd rather an rs3 over an m3 any day of the week. I'm hoping it will be around £43k. Then I'll spec it with about 4K of options. It needs to be worth while swapping it for the s3.

None of the above mate, just common sense tells me this, if anyone thinks Audi are going to price the RS3 Sportback at £43kish and price the TTRS at £52k with the the same engine is kidding themselves on

The TTS is approx £7000 more than the S3 it shares its engine with. So by your logic the RS3 would be £45k ish.

Yes...open for bets, the TTS S-Tronic has SS seats and the virtual cockpit as standard plus 19" wheels and magride, add this to the S-Tronic Sportback the price become roughly £38000,the same logic applies to the TTRS to the RS3....and the TTRS doesnt come with Magride

£46,820 is the cost of an M2 with auto and that will be its nearest competitor so i'd imagine it will be pretty similar in price.
To be honest I don't care too much about the initial starting price (within reason)but I do care that its going to hold its value well and not depreciate like an M3/4 or RS6.

I was told this morning the price of both RS3's won't be announced until August in the UK ???? Which sounds about right for its arrival in late 2017

But how would that work?

You need to order your car once the price has been announced. So given Audi lead time, you're looking at deliveries early 2018, surely?

Unless every dealer gets an allocation with spec / options pre-loaded, so price is the price. Want to order to your own spec, then 2018 it is. TBH, that suits me, as I want to test drive first before taking the plunge.

It should follow in a similar timeline as the TTRS did, price was announced last September, demonstrators where available November/December,but you will be able to order a RS3 as soon as it available to configure August/September,with delivery of cars around next March, but if you want to try before you buy, your talking in the region of next May/June....Yeah Audi know how to play the RS3 game....clever Krauts lol

My advice to yourself is? test drive a TTRS beforehand....same engine/gearbox,but slightly heavier, only then you'll really know if the face lift RS3 is for you, being your a manual gearbox sort of guy

I test drove the TT RS today, without a sports exhaust. It's lovely sat on the motorway, nice and quiet. It is much louder inside than the RS3, I love it.. such a raspy noise inside!

Coming from the S3, with it quoted 0.9 seconds quicker to 60 I expected it to be a lot quicker and more of a pin you in your seat car. It wasn't quite as fast as I imagined, but a very quick car still and very exciting. Same deal with the RS4 and 5, the RS4 not so much but I expected the 5 to be quicker. I drove that on Sunday, the noise is out of this world but I have more fun in the S3, minus the noise.

I drove it at 14:30 and the roads weren't the quietest so really didn't get a good run in it at all. I was quite unflattered by the lack of pops from the standard exhaust, it was only popping loudly at 5000rpm. The TT RS still sounds amazing though, what a noise that engine makes. Even after not being totally taken back by the drive, I'd still blindly order an RS3.

I picked the S3 up tonight after being away for 4 days for a detail, it put a smile straight on my face!

Yeah standard exhaust on the ttrs is great but only pops and bangs just before and after 5k but l still managed them on the downshifts, as for it being not much faster... Give it a empty Road mate.... It's ****** scary lol, l agree though the engine does sings more than in the RS3? , it does sound more like a R8 for some reason

I'm pretty sure I won't get another RS3 now tbh. The brakes seriously let the car down & you should not have to worry about this on a brand new car.

Far too many owners have poor brakes / brake squeal or warped / knackered discs or are wondering when judder will creep in.

I've got the new optimised circular brakes fitted now as what appears to be fitted to the facelift and they are considerably better than the wavy discs but still have occasional squeal and I am concerned about long term longevity.

Just takes the shine off and like I say for this money you should not have to worry about things going wrong or listening to embarrassing brake squeal.

The car in general is ace but the brakes are enough to put me off getting another. Right now my money is on an S4/S5 or RS4/RS5 if I push the boat out, but I would be examining the brakes lol if it was an RS again :)

I did get it to pop on downshsifts but it wasn't bangs like it did at around 5k like you said, it did seem more like pops.
I'd still definitely need the sports exhaust on an RS product, otherwise I would find myself asking 'what if' with the difference between the two all the time.
I really didn't get a good run in it, which was a shame. I had 2 junctions on the motorway and then a busy combination of 40/50mph roads, it wasn't far off half an hour in the end but no real opportunity to drive it properly. It is definitely louder in the cabin, I quite enjoyed it. I put it down to the car being more compact and being closer to the exhaust, with little space to deaden the sound between us and the pipes. You really cannot beat that 5 cylinder sound, what an engine.

Next opportunity now will likely be the RS3, unless a TT RS comes back in as an approved vehicle which is extremely unlikely.

I've got two minds, I've fallen for the S3 and really enjoy driving it at the moment it just seems to be getting better as I'm putting miles on (6k now).
But, I also know the RS was the dream and I think I should go for it while I can rather than regret it years down the line. Although I feel no need to upgrade / offload the S3! It will be an RS3 or a good map on the S3. I need the car to turn up now so I can fall for it like I did the last one, haha.

Drove a new sportback diesel S-line yesterday, its some car inside even in S-line car form,it felt very sporty indeed, silky s-tronic gearbox add that to some real feel to the steering it's a great product from Audi , but it's too large for me,a S5 good spec is £53k but you'll get a good discount off them, will try a S5 soon.

Brakes can be sorted with aftermarket though Snake if it really is a big deal. Agree that we shouldn't be put through it though.

Snake I had break squal for a good bit today while driving in town centre, very annoying it is especially when people turn round to see where the noise is coming from, and that's mines with the circular discs fitted instead of wavey.
So expect it I'd say.

I'd have another RS3 no bother. The only thing is though I'd be likely to wait till the new platform appears 2018 with rs prob year or so after that. That'd be perfect for me. I can't see me going anywhere else apart from the RS brand. It's a class above the rest, BMW and Mercedes included in that as well.

You'd hope that the time a brand new platform is out they will have fitted decent brakes by then.

Trouble is it invalidates your warranty & to have to shell out money to replace parts I never have to replace on my cars really grates. I don't buy a new car to have to replace new parts. Audi really messed up on these brakes.

Yeah the size is the only thing isn't it.
I love the 3's proportions myself.
I might even consider an S3 lol ... just to get a manual gearbox again :)
TTS & S3 are the most powerful manual gearbox cars Audi do now !
I like S-Tronic but still like manual too.
There are a lot of nice S5 videos on the net at the moment though.

S4 avant looks tidy. Costs though.....As will this new FL. The more info trickling out points to paying around 53-54k for a decent specced motor. Those who say they don't need to spec it will be slaughtered come selling up time.
