hi all i am new to audi i got home last nite and the dpf pop up on the dash whats the cheap and best way to sort this out can any one help please ?

Maybe an idea to get it scanned with vcds to see if there is a fault code. When was the last service/oil and filter changed? Link in my signature for local users with vcds lead. What year is car?

If the light comes up it usually means that dpf is clogged up.

You can have it cleaned or flushed but only short term solution, been told.
Longer term solution is to replace it for a new one but costly thing to do.
Best and longest term thing to do is to remove it from the car and the computer (map it out).

What car and model is it?

As Sandra suggest, it would be also a good idea to have it scanned.

it come up with particulate filter it do need a service as well what the cheap way to clean it please can i get dpf cleaner and it to the diesel ?

You can clean it chemically or flush it. Flush get all the dirt out but they have to remove it. Cost around £200-£300 depending on the car. Maybe cheaper. Chemical clean is much cheaper but they do not remove it from the car, Just pour some formula and run it for some time. Think Halfrauds is doing it for about £80? Don't quote me. It was few months back I researched it.

Post a picutre, it may just need a long-ish constant drive to self clear.

And what has your driving style been since then? DPF equipped vehicles don't like short journeys.

What you mean driving style please ?

What sort of journeys do you do? Short, slow?

Post a picture of the warning light as asked above, might be able to give a solution rather than the "cleaner".

Speed? Road type? Ie town, dual carriageway?

Post a picture of the warning light.

Ok now were getting somewhere.

Town roads won't allow the DPF to regenerate properly.

Take it for a 30 minute, uninteruppted drive at 60mph in 4th gear and it should clear.

And then do this once a week to keep the filter clear and the regeneration process to complete.

Would that cleaner help or not really just do a 30 mins trip

Just do the 30 min drive and do it once a week.

That warning light doesn't warrant a "cleaner". If you do the correct driving for DPF regeneration you won't ever need one of those "cleaners".

What I've been told is that the dpf light comes on the dash if the dpf is 70% clogged up. Those 30min run's once a week might work but not for long.
If it goes off and keep on coming back on/off it will be end of it, anyway. It will not cope to clear enough. Had similar situation.
Depending on the milage but mine started developing problems at less than 80k but no light on. 10k later got rid of it and it's just perfect.

If thats the only light on you DON'T need any cleaner! Take it for the drive I suggested.

Extract from factory information:

45% DPF Load Level 1
Normal Regeneration

50% DPF Load Level 2
Regeneration at maximum exhaust temperatures

55% DPF Load DPF lamp
Regeneration from 60 km/h onwards
("See operating manual")

75% DPF Load DPF, SYS and MI lamp
Torque limitation, EGR deactivation,

Regeneration via VAG tester only
95% DPF Load Replace the DPF Unit

Did it this morning and it's all clear now thank you all for you help

Do that drive once a week and you'll not see it again.

Glad it worked for you.
Looks like my car wasn't so lucky

It's worth checking the car for fault codes. Even if there are no lights on the dash currently there can still be issues with the car that will affect DPF regeneration.
If you have an Android phone get a £5 bluetooth dongle and an app such as Carista or Torque to read fault codes off the car.
